The Nonprofit Times is recognizing a pair of area organizations on their list of the 2020 Best Nonprofits to Work For. The United Way of Southwest Michigan is ranked fourth and Kinexus Group is 36th of the 50 on the list. Kinexus Group president and CEO Todd Gustafson says the two nonprofits work very well together with a lot of partnerships, but adds their work is even more vital now given the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis with thousands out of work and companies fighting to survive.

“It hasn’t really changed our mission,” said Gustafson. “It’s just amplified our work in the community, and it’s really been intense, and the team has been doing a great job of trying to help folks.”

Gustafson says he and United Way of Southwest Michigan president Anna Murphy are in agreement that the two groups have a lot of work in front of them to help wherever they can.

“Although it’s nice to be recognized, really it’s just an affirmation of what we already knew, of what we’re doing, and how we have to step up our game even more.”

This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the top 50 employers in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the economy, area workforce, and businesses.
