COVID-19 Cases Surge In Michigan, Up By 1,052

After a few days of the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Michigan being under 600, they’ve jumped by 1,052 to 39,262 as of Tuesday. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says 160 new deaths have been linked to the virus, for a total of 3,567 since the pandemic began to hit the state roughly six weeks ago. In southwest Michigan, there are 22 new cases, with 15 in Berrien County for a cumulative total of 232 and seven in Van Buren County, rising there to 43. Berrien County has also recorded another death, rising to 15, while there are no new deaths in Cass or Van Buren counties. Cass County’s number of COVID-19 cases remains 27, the same as it’s been since Sunday. The Berrien County Health Department says 163 people in the county have recovered.
