The Berrien County Health Department is offering everyone advice about how they can avoid COVID-19 related scams. Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Brandon Vallee says in a new video there are five basic things you can do. First…

“Do not respond to texts, emails, or calls about COVID-19 packages test kits, relief checks, or Medicare from the government.”

He advises that you hang up on all robocalls. And do your own research using credible sources.

“Watch out for emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization. You should get your information directly from the CDC or World Health Organization websites.”

Vallee you should ignore all online claims promoting treatments or vaccines for COVID-19, and don’t believe any ad you see for an at-home test kit. Those kits are not close to being widely available for distribution.
