After being closed since mid March, the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit is reopening with pandemic precautions starting July 2. Christian Cullen oversees security and safety for guest services. He says some places will be closed like the Wright Brothers bike shop. But Greenfield Village’s historic interpreters will still share the stories.

“We won’t be able to have people come in, but we will have a presentation in historic clothing outside the homes, and we’ll be doing that at a proper distance so everybody can be safe,” Cullen said. “We can allow that experience to happen. It’s just going to be a little different right now.”

Cullen says masks will be required in most places, barriers are being set up, and cleaning will be taking place in high touch areas. A complete rundown of all the procedures is available on the Henry Ford website.
