Netflix Renews ‘Ozark’ For Season 3

On Wednesday, Netflix and Ozark star Jason Bateman announced that the original series has been renewed for a third season. Bateman tweeted, “I’m happy for me, but concerned for Marty – it’s official OZARK 3 is on the way.”  Bateman stars as Marty Byrde, a family man and money launderer for a Mexican drug cartel. The second season of Ozark premiered at the end of August and found the Byrde family, in particlar Wendy (Laura Linney), diving further into the world of crime. Jordana Spiro, Janet McTeer, and Julia Garner also star on the series. Ozark received 5 nominations at last month’s Emmys, including Best Actor and Best Director for Bateman.  Ozark season 3 has yet to confirm a release date, but is expected to arrive around late summer or early autumn in 2019.. ...Read Full Story

American Music Awards 2018: Highlights & Winners

Taylor Swift won three awards at the 2018 American Music Awards, including artist of the year. Those three AMAs have now made her the most decorated musician ever in AMA history. Swift made her first awards show appearance at the AMAs in three years with her performance of “I Did Something Bad.” Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the American Music Awards, in which fans vote for the winners. The show aired Tuesday on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles; Swift, Cardi B, Post Malone, Camila Cabello were also among the performers. Cardi B, who was tied with Drake for the most AMA nominations, won the first award of the night for favorite rap/hip-hop artist. Dove Cameron Scores Lead Role In ‘Clueless: The Musical’

Disney actress Dove Cameron will be assuming the role of Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher, in the upcoming Off Broadway production of “Clueless: The Musical.” The musical, based off the 1995 film of the same name, is set for a limited engagement beginning November 20th and running through January 13th. CBS Announces ‘The World’s Best’ In 2019

CBS has announced a brand new international talent competition series from celebrated television producers Mike Darnell and Mark Burnett. James Corden, Emmy Award-winning host of The Late Late Showwith James Corden, will host The World’s Best and pull double duty as executive producer. Damon Wayans Announces His Departure From ‘Lethal Weapon’

Damon Wayans is set to exit Fox’s television adaptation of Lethal Weapon after production wraps on 13 new episodes for Season 3. Wayans made the announcement Wednesday during an interview, where the actor said his decision to leave the show stemmed from having long work days and wanting to spend more time with his family.  “I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days,” Wayans said. “Like Murtaugh say, ‘Too old for this.'” Wayans said he plans on returning to stand-up comedy in 2019. Wayans’ departure comes after Seann William Scott just joined Lethal Weapon Season 3 following the firing of original star Clayne Crawford. ‘Venom’ Tops ‘A Star Is Born’ For October’s Opening Weekend Box Office

The movie “Venom” is expected to set an opening weekend record for October with an estimated $80 million from 4,250 theaters. Venom, which stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock (aka the eponymous anti-hero Venom), will beat the last October record-holder, “Gravity,” which debuted in 2013 to $55.7 million. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and also starring with Michelle Williams alongside Hardy, “Venom” earned $32.75 million on Friday. The weekend’s other major opener, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born,” is expected to make $42 million from 3,686 domestic sites. Kaley Cuoco To Voice Harley Quinn For Upcoming DC Universe Animated Series

The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has a new job, and will voice the title role in the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series. CBS announced in August that The Big Bang Theory will end with its current 12th season. The actress announced the news about Harley Quinn on Wednesday, October 3, during a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con, where DC Universe also unveiled a teaser for the show. Cuoco told the audience, “I’ve always loved animation. I did it years ago, and I haven’t been in the animation world in a while. [Harley] is so edgy. Tina Turner Musical Is Headed To Broadway

A musical depicting the life and career of the legendary Tina Turner will be opening on Broadway this fall. The show made its debut in London’s West End, and now will be coming to Broadway in the fall of 2019. Turner shared in a statement, “bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me, I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career.” Tony Award nominee Adrienne Warren, who plays the titular part in the production’s London cast, is expected to reprise her role in the New York show, but official casting information has not been released. Johnny Depp Talks Backlash From Ex-Wife Amber Heard’s Abuse Allegations

Johnny Depp is opening up about the difficult year he’s had after his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, accused him of physically abusing her. According to previous reports, Depp and Heard ended their marriage in early 2017 after she accused him of attacking her and throwing an iPhone in her face, which he denies. At the time, she phoned the police, who arrived and found no evidence of a crime. Depp  agreed to pay her $7 million to finally end the marriage, but still maintains her allegations are completely false. Speaking in an interview with GQ magazine for its November edition, Depp opened up about the backlash he’s received and being labeled an abuser of women. Depp said: “I could feel people look at me differently, because of the accusations towards you. And then people start putting things in magazines: ‘He’s insane. He needs to take a sanity test…’ You know, ludicrous stuff. But the only thing that I could do was know what I still know. Ultimately, the truth will come out in all of this and I will be standing on the right side of the roaring rapids. Sylvester Stallone shared a first look at the upcoming Rambo 5 on Instagram, with the caption, “Tonight we start filming.”  In this latest installment, when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Stallone’s Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexico border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels. Superman: The Movie, the 1978 film with Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, will play in more than 500 movie theaters across the U.S. on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time, and again on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The return comes in time for the 40th anniversary of the film’s premiere and the 80th anniversary of the character’s creation. Kanye West went on pro-Trump rant at the end of his appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” which never made the air, due to time constraints (according to SNL.) West, who had declared Saturday morning that he should now be called “Ye,” wore a red “Make America Great Again” hat for much of his time as the musical guest on Saturday’s premiere of the 44th season of SNL. After he performed “Ghost Town” with Kid Cudi and 070 Shake, West and the SNL cast members gathered back on stage to close out the episode. ‘Night School’ Tops The Weekend Box Office With $26M Debut

Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart’s comedy Night School made it’s way to the top of the box-office chart, earning $9.5 million from 3,010 theaters for a projected weekend debut of $26 million. The winning trio behind the 2017 box-office hit Girls Trip, director Malcolm D. Lee, producer Will Packer and Universal, were all involved in the making of Night School. Heading into the weekend, some tracking services had suggested Night School could clear $31 million in its domestic launch. The movie follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend night school in order to pass their GED exams, with Haddish as their teacher. Actor Geoffrey Owens Donates The $25,000 Given To Him From Nicki Minaj To Charity

Actor Geoffrey Owens, the former “The Cosby Show” star who was job-shamed last month due to pictures of him posted on social media working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s, is now paying it forward. Owens has decided to donate the $25,000 that rapper Nicki Minaj gave him to other struggling actors.  Owens said: “I would like to give this donation of 25K to the Actor’s Fund in memory of the late, great Earle Hyman.” Hyman, who played Cosby’s father, ‘Russell’, on The Cosby Show, lived his last years and died at the Actors’ Home, which was funded and run by the Actor’s Fund. Owens added: “I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams.” Owens played Elvin Tibideaux on “The Cosby Show,” but his career stalled after the show ended in 1992. The photos of him being shamed for working at the supermarket stirred outrage. Minaj called the incident “toxic & disgusting” and pledged to donate $25,000 to Owens. Actor Bill Cosby’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame will not be removed despite him being jailed for sexual assault, the organization in charge of the LA tourist attraction has confirmed. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said that while it is “regrettable” when celebrities’ personal lives do not live up to “public standards and expectations”, the stars mark professional achievements and are permanent fixtures. Cosby was just sentenced for up to 10 years for sexual assault, while also being labelled a “sexually violent predator” by a judge in Pennsylvania. Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault

Comedian Bill Cosby was taken out of court in handcuffs Tuesday after a Philadelphia judge sentenced him to 3-10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in 2004. “The day has come. Your time has come,” Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O’Neill told Cosby, 81, before sentencing him on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby declined to speak during the two-day hearing. He was found guilty in April of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former women’s basketball coach at Temple University in Philadelphia. The judge initially denied a defense request to allow Cosby to remain free on bail, but lawyers continued to argue, and the entertainer wasn’t immediately hauled out of court to begin his sentence. Cosby remained seated in the courtroom, surrounded by attorneys and spokespeople. Spectators were cleared from the courtroom before deputies took him into custody and walked him away in handcuffs as he held his cane. The judge also ordered Cosby to pay Constand’s costs and a fine of $25,000. Mel Gibson has been hired to co-write and direct a remake of The Wild Bunch. The original 1969 Western movie, directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring William Holden, followed an aging outlaw band caught up in changing times and a last job gone terribly wrong. Though the film met with some controversy upon release, it’s become a classic of American film. Director Tony Scott was originally attached to a remake, but his untimely death in 2012 put the project on hold indefinitely. Now the remake has been revived with Gibson at the helm. “America’s Got Talent” finalist Michael Ketterer will no long perform at the Garth Brooks concert at Notre Dame Stadium after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge last week. The 41-year-old Ketterer, a father of six, came in fifth place on the most recent season of AGT. On Wednesday’s finale, Ketterer — a pediatric mental health nurse from Knoxville, Tennessee — performed the song that Brooks wrote for him, and Brooks also invited the singer to perform the song in front of 86,000 people at his upcoming show. LeBron James To Star In “Space Jam 2”

NBA superstar LeBron James and his production company, SpringHill Entertainment, announced a sequel to 1996’s “Space Jam” that will boast an all-star team, Ryan Coogler of “Black Panther” is set to produce the film, James will star and Terence Nance of “Random Acts of Flyness” will serve as director. The new Lakers superstar playing himself in “Trainwreck” opposite Amy Schumer but has never starred in a feature film. James told the Hollywood Reporter that he “loved [Coogler’s] vision” for “Black Panther” and believes the director will bring the same magic to “Space Jam.” Other NBA stars are expected to star with James in the film, although there is no word on any further details. Veronica Mars’ Revival Heading To Hulu With 8-Episode Order

On Thursday, Hulu officially announced they have picked up an eight-episode revival of “Veronica Mars,” with series star Kristen Bell and creator Rob Thomas set to return in 2019. As of now, Bell and Thomas are the only two people involved with the original series who confirmed to return. The original cast included Ryan Hansen, Percy Daggs, Jason Dohring, Francis Capra and Enrico Colantoni. Hulu has also struck an agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for streaming rights to all past episodes of the original “Veronica Mars,” including the 2014 feature film. All will be available in 2019. ‘Downton Abbey’ Movie Release Date Announced For September 2019

On Wednesday, Focus Features announced the film continuation of the award-winning series “Downton Abbey.”  The movie will hit North American theaters on September 19, 2019, and internationally, the film will debut on September 13, 2019, via Universal Pictures International. “Downton Abbey” ran for six seasons from 2010-2015, and in that time the series earned three Golden Globes and 15 Emmy Awards. The series, set at the turn of the 20th Century, focused on the wealthy Crawley family and the servants who work for and live with them. Dylan Farrow and Ronan Farrow publicly responded to a profile published by New York Magazine with Soon-Yi Previn that featured Previn’s version of how their mother, Mia Farrow,  treated them as children. “The Predator” took the top spot at the box office this weekend, beating “The Nun” at the domestic box office. Shane Black’s “The Predator” launched with mediocre $24 million from 4,037 North American locations. Warner Bros. is addressing recent reports that Henry Cavill will no longer be playing Superman. David Henrie was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, September 10. The former Wizards of Waverly Place actor was taken into police custody after he was found with a weapon while walking through airport security. LAX’s Airport Police Public Information Officer said in a statement, “David Henrie was arrested at 9:05 a.m. for possession of a loaded firearm at an airport screening at LAX. Olivia Newton-John has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time in three decades. Olivia revealed in an interview that doctors found a tumor at the base of her back in 2017, and she has been using modern medicines and natural remedies, including cannabis oil, to treat the cancer and reduce pain. She’s also stopped eating sugar and started radiation treatment. In the interview, Newton-John expressed gratitude for having the support of her husband, John Easterling, saying, “A lot of cannabis, my husband grows for me. CBS Chief Les Moonves Resigns Following New Allegations Of Sexual Misconduct

CBS CEO and chairman Les Moonves has resigned, following a new report from Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker, which brought new allegations of sexual misconduct. This past weekend, The New Yorker published a new report that outlines additional accusations against Moonves. Six additional women came forward alleging “sexual harassment or assault.”  CBS’s board made the announcement of Moonves’s resignation on Sunday evening. CBS says that its board of directors and its parent company, National Amusements, announced that they reached a settlement this evening that would see Moonves step down immediately. Actor Burt Reynolds Dies At Age 82

Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds, known for starring in hit films such as Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance, The Longest Yard, Semi-Tough, and more recently, Boogie Nights, has died at the age of 82. Reynolds died Thursday at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida his manager Erik Kritzer confirmed to multiple publications. Born Burton Leon Reynolds Jr. in Waycross, Ga., Reynolds attended Florida State U. for two years on a football scholarship; however his promising career as a running back was cut short by a knee injury suffered in a car accident. It was at that time that Reynolds turned his attention to acting. After marrying television actress Loni Anderson, Reynolds decided to produce and star in the sitcom “Evening Shade” on CBS from 1990-94, which earned him an Emmy as best actor in a comedy series. Reynolds also received critical acclaim for his performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Boogie Nights,” which brought him an Oscar nomination for supporting actor. Reynolds was married and divorced twice, first in the 1960s to “Laugh-In” comedienne Judy Carne and then to Loni Anderson. The first official image of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel has been revealed. The next installment of the Law & Order franchise will focus on hate crimes. NBC announced a 13-episode order for “Law & Order: Hate Crimes,” from executive producer Dick Wolf. ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Tops Labor Day Weekend Box Office

“Crazy Rich Asians” isn’t showing signs of slowing down at the box office in its third weekend in theaters. The romantic comedy has topped the domestic charts again, with Warner Bros. estimating that the film added an additional $22.2 million this weekend, down only 10 percent from last weekend. To date, the film has grossed nearly $111 million from North American theaters. “Crazy Rich Asians” may have one of the biggest Labor Day weekends ever by the time final numbers are reported on Tuesday. The outspoken #MeToo activist was dating Bourdain at the time of his suicide earlier this year, and had appeared in two episodes of the show in Rome and Southern Italy; she also directed another episode in Hong Kong. A woman has accused French actor Gerard Depardieu of rape and sexual assault, a judicial official told one of the nation’s national news networks on Thursday. The actor’s lawyer denied the accusations in several interviews. According to the French official, a woman filed a complaint on Monday near Aix-en-Provence in southern France; on Wednesday, the case was handed over to prosecutors in Paris. Reports said the incidents occurred on August 7 and 13 at Depardieu’s home, and that his accuser was a dancer and actress seeking professional advice. Veteran Broadcaster Bob Costas Is Reportedly In Talks To Exit NBC

Sports announcer Bob Costas is negotiating his exit from NBC after nearly 40 years with the network. His contract runs through 2021. Costas, 66, declined to comment on specifics of the situation but talked in general terms about his tenure at NBC, saying: “There was a very long period of time when NBC’s programming suited my interests and abilities very well, from [late-night talk show] ‘Later,’ to the news magazines, to baseball, the NBA and the Olympics. And after deciding on my own to leave the Olympics after having done a dozen of them, you just look around and say, ‘What was once a perfect fit no longer fits that description.’” It is being reported that Costas wants to pursue an interview show that will stretch beyond sports.
