Steven Spielberg Is The First Director To Cross $10 Billion Worldwide

Steven Spielberg has just made history, becoming the first director to see the gross of his movies exceed $10 billion worldwide. After three weeks in theaters, Ready Player One has earned $114.9 million in the U.S., bringing its global total to $475.1 million. 1993’s Jurassic Park remains Spielberg’s biggest commercial success ($984 million) and other smash hits include 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($787 million) and 1983’s E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial ($717 million) have garnered Spielberg this honor. ‘Big Bang Theory’ Enlists Mark Hamill, Kathy Bates For Wedding-Themed Season 11 Finale

CBS’ The Big Bang Theory is creating an impressive guest list for its wedding-themed season 11 finale, when Sheldon and Amy tie the knot. The May 11 season ender will focus on the marriage between Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) and feature a roster of new and returning faces to the long-running series. Among the famous faces set to be in attendance for the nuptials are Star Wars’ Mark Hamill, Kathy Bates, Lauren Lapkus, Jerry O’Connell (as Sheldon’s brother, Georgie); and comedian Teller. Harry Anderson, Judge On ‘Night Court,’ Dies At His N.C. Home At 65

Harry Anderson, an actor and magician featured on the TV shows Night Court, Dave’s World and Cheers died Monday morning at age 65. Police in Asheville, N.C., say officers responded to a call at Anderson’s home and found him deceased. No foul play is suspected in his death. A Rhode Island native, Anderson gained fame as a stand-up comic, appearing on Saturday Night Live before he was cast on Cheers. His best-known role was playing Judge Harry T. Stone on the sitcom Night Court, which aired nine seasons on NBC from 1984 to 1992. The Associated Press said Anderson left Hollywood and resurfaced as the owner of a New Orleans magic shop, and after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he moved to Asheville.

“This Is Us,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and the film “A Fantastic Woman” received top honors at the 29th GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills. NBC’s “This Is Us” won best drama series, Fox’s sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” won best comedy and Sony’s transgender drama “A Fantastic Woman” won the award for best film in limited release.  Special honors also went to pop star Britney Spears, who was presented the Vanguard Award by Ricky Martin; and “The Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons, who was presented GLAAD’s Stephen F. Kolzak Award by producer Ryan Murphy and the cast of “Boys in the Band.” “Our society has always put such an emphasis on what’s normal, and to be different is unusual or seen as strange. “Rampage” Takes The Box Office No. 1 Spot With $148.6 Million Globally

Dwayne Johnson’s arcade game-inspired Rampage crept past last week’s top film A Quiet Place to take the No. 1 spot on the box-office charts. Studios estimate that Rampage has grossed $34.5 million in its first weekend in theaters. In a very close second was the modestly budgeted John Krasinski thriller A Quiet Place with $32.6 million. In just two weeks, the word-of-mouth sensation is now just shy of $100 million in grosses from North American theaters. Netflix Backs Out Of Cannes Film Festival After They Ban Films Without Theatrical Release Dates

Following the Cannes Film Festival’s announcement last year that it would no longer host films that did not commit to “being distributed in French movie theaters” the streaming giant’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, confirmed to Variety that Netflix will not screen any of its upcoming full-length narratives at the film festival. Sarandos told Variety that, “there’s a risk in us going in this way and having our films and filmmakers treated disrespectfully at the festival. They’ve set the tone. I don’t think it would be good for us to be there.” French theater exhibitors reportedly took issue with Cannes allowing Netflix projects into the main competition despite the films failing to secure wide theatrical release dates in the region. Los Angeles District Attorney Reviewing Sexual Assault Case Against Kevin Spacey

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing a sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey, according to multiple sources The case was presented by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department last Thursday; however, no further details were provided. More than a dozen men have accused the former “House of Cards” star of sexual misconduct. The allegations first came to light last fall when “Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp said that Spacey made a sexual advance on him when he was 14. Rapp said it happened in 1986, when he was at Spacey’s home for a party. Mariah Carey is revealing for the first time that she has been battling bipolar disorder. “Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” Carey told People Magazine.  “It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that anymore. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love — writing songs and making music.”  Carey said she thought she had a severe sleep disorder, but soon discovered otherwise. Actor T.J. Miller Accused Of Calling In Fake Bomb Threat

Actor T.J. Miller was arrested on Monday for allegedly calling in a fake bomb threat on a train last month. Authorities have charged Miller with intentionally conveying false information about an explosive device on a train to law enforcement. On March 18, Miller was aboard an Amtrak train traveling from Washington D.C. to New York when authorities say Miller called a 911 dispatcher in New Jersey to report that a female passenger with brown hair and a scarf had a bomb in her bag. Investigators inspected the train, but found no explosive devices on board. An attendant from the first class car of the train was interviewed where Miller had been sitting, and claimed the actor had appeared intoxicated upon boarding in Washington and consumed multiple drinks on the train, also telling investigators that Miller had a few “hostile exchanges” with a woman sitting in the same first-class car. Investigators determined the woman was not carrying explosives or doing any of the things that Miller had claimed.  Authorities arrested Miller when he flew into LaGuardia Airport. Prosecutors Say That Bill Cosby Paid Accuser $3.38 Million In 2006 Settlement

Bill Cosby paid $3.38 million to the woman who said that he drugged and assaulted her as part of a 2006 civil settlement, prosecutors said in opening statements of his trial on Monday. The number was made public for the first time on Monday as Cosby returned to court for his trial on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby, 80, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, says that Cosby drugged her and then assaulted her at his home in 2004. Cosby’s defense attorneys have argued that he and Constand had a consensual sexual relationship. No criminal charges were filed at the time Constand reported the alleged assault to police in 2005, but she and Cosby settled a civil lawsuit in 2006. This is the second trial for Cosby on these charges. Last June’s trial ended in a mistrial when jurors could not come to a unanimous verdict on any of the charges against Cosby.. ...Read Full Story

John Krasinski’s “A Quiet Place” blasted past expectations to notch the second-best debut of the year, opening with $50.2 million in ticket sales, according to final studio figures Monday. The unexpected success of the $17 million movie gave Viacom Inc.’s Paramount a much-needed hit and the studio’s best non-sequel opening weekend in nearly five years. Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns Home After Successful Heart Surgery

Arnold Schwarzenegger has reportedly left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after successful cardiac surgery. The procedure was put in place by medical interventionists responding to a resurgence of Arnold’s congenital heart defect, which he first received treatment for in 1997. Schwarzenegger had been tweeting from his hospital bed since Thursday, giving his supporters an update on his condition. He also showed gratitude over his bedside care in his latest tweet, saying in part, “I went to sleep expecting to wake up with a small incision and woke up with a big one – but guess what? I woke up, and that’s something to be thankful for. Thank you to the doctors & nurses. ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ Breaks Record For Most Watched Unscripted Cable Premiere In 6 Years

The premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation proved to be a huge success for the cable network. The new series became the most watched unscripted cable series premiere in six years. The show’s first two episodes, which were part of a back-to-back two-hour special, averaged a score of 2.96 in the 18-34 demographic—higher than the 2012 season finale. Jersey Shore Family Vacation was also a big hit on social media, with the hashtag #JSFamilyVacation trending for seven hours in the United States on Twitter. The series’ success on social media may have also had to do with it being a global premiere, which was a first for MTV. Actress Jaime King Speaks Out On Violent Attack Against Her & Her Son

Jaime King has posted on her Instagram about the terrifying act of violence that occurred against her, her four-year-old son James Knight, and her friend Judit Balogh on April 4 in Beverly Hills. The actress wrote a note to her fans, thanking them for support and noting that many of the facts that have been released are not accurate. “James Knight is very shaken up, as am I. The attack was incredibly violent, and my 4 year old son was obviously the target of the individual’s brutal attack, which is terrifying,” King wrote. Beverly Hills Police have stated that King’s car was parked and her son James was sitting in a car seat in the back, while King’s friend was in the driver’s seat. Suspect Paul Francis Floyd, 47, jumped on the car and pummeled the window. King’s friend got out of the car to try to stop Floyd, who threw a can at her.  “In an effort to protect the child, the female driver exited the vehicle and confronted the suspect at which time he threw a can at her, striking her arm.” Police said Floyd had also kicked another car before attacking King’s Mercedes. Floyd was arrested on one count each of felony child endangerment and misdemeanor battery and two counts of felony vandalism. Filmmaker Says ‘Stranger Things’ Creators Stole His Ideas In New Lawsuit

Filmmaker Charlie Kessler is suing “Stranger Things” show creators Matt and Ross Duffer for allegedly stealing ideas for their hit Netflix show after he pitched a similar project to them. According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles, Kessler met the brothers at a Tribeca Film Festival party in April 2014 and introduced the concept of a feature based on his supernatural short film “Montauk” that had premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival two years earlier. He later handed over the script, ideas, story and the short film to the siblings. Now, Kessler claims they took his ideas without his permission or knowledge. “Stranger Things,” which originally was titled “Montauk” when it was sold to Netflix, has become a huge hit and a third season in the works. The filmmaker is now seeking damages and lost profits. Taylor Swift’s Stalker Has Been Sentenced To 10 Years Probation

A 39-year-old man accused of stalking Taylor Swift was arrested in October 2016, and now following a years-long legal battle he was sentenced to probation. Frank Andrew Hoover was accused of following the singer’s motorcade to the airport, sending Taylor’s father frightening emails that included threats to “end” her family, and violating a lifetime protective order against him. After pleading guilty to repeatedly violating the protective order, the stalker was sentenced on Monday to a 10-year probation, but there are many legal strings attached to make sure that he can no longer harass Swift. As part of the conditions of his probation, Hoover must stay one mile away from Swift and her family, and his location will reportedly be monitored by GPS for at least the first year of his probation. He will also reportedly have to complete psychological testing, attend substance abuse classes, surrender all firearms, and undergo random drug testing. Steven Bochco, ‘Hill Street Blues’ And ‘NYPD Blue’ Creator, Dead At 74

Steven Bochco, the legendary TV creator responsible for hits including “Hill Street Blues,” “L.A. Law” and “NYPD Blue,” died of cancer Sunday morning at the age of 74. He began his career working on shows like “Ironside” and “Columbo,” however “Hill Street Blues” was his first big hit, earning eight Emmy Awards in its pilot season and accumulating 98 nominations over a seven-season run.The show featured his signature style, ensemble casts and provocative plots. Bochco also created “L.A. Law” which premiered on NBC in 1986, “Doogie Howser, M.D.” (1989) and “Cop Rock” in 1990.  “Steven fought cancer with strength, courage, grace and his unsurpassed sense of humor,” his family said in a statement. “He died peacefully in his sleep with is family close by.” Bochco was diagnosed with leukemia several years ago. ‘Jesus Christ Superstar Live’ Tops Easter Night Programming With 9.6 Million Viewers

NBC’s broadcast of “Jesus Christ Superstar Live” topped its Easter Sunday competition, garnering 9.607 million total viewers for the night. The live TV musical earned a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49, which was also better than ABC’s “American Idol” and all other competition during the broadcast’s primetime hours. “Jesus Christ Superstar Live” aired from 8 p.m. to 10:23 p.m. Elsewhere, a two-hour “Idol” from 8-10 put up a 1.6 rating and 7.4 million viewers, per fast national numbers. Also of note, CBS’ “60 Minutes” nabbed 8.1 million viewers. Those were the closest any other show came to the NBC musical’s numbers. Taylor Swift has come to the defense of Hayley Kiyoko after some Swift fans thought Kiyoko was taking a shot at her with recent comments she made. Arnold Schwarzenegger is in good spirits as he recovers from heart surgery in a Los Angeles hospital. The 70-year-old actor and former California governor underwent a scheduled procedure to replace a valve on Thursday. ‘Roseanne’ Reboot On ABC Pulls In Over 18 Million Viewers

The revival of the 1990s classic TV comedy Roseanne debuted on its original home, ABC, on Tuesday, March 27, and it did outstanding in the ratings department. The two-episode premiere started with a whopping 17.7 million viewers during the first half hour, and then grew to 18.6 million in the second. Over the course of the hour, Roseanne had an average of 18.2 million viewers and a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demo. Prince Toxicology Report Shows High Levels Of Fentanyl At Time Of Death

According to a toxicology report obtained from his autopsy, legendary music artist Prince had what experts call an “exceedingly high” concentration of fentanyl in his body at the time of his death. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is said to be 50 times more powerful than heroin. Prince was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate; news that he had the drug in his system is not new, as that information came to light roughly six weeks after his death.  Experts say the amount in his system was high, even for someone suffering from chronic pain. The report notes that he had 67.8 micrograms per liter in his system. Based on findings of the drug in his stomach and blood, it’s clear that he took the drug orally and had enough time for it to spread into his system a bit before he died. Michael Bublé and his wife, Argentine actress and model Luisana Lopilato, are expecting a third child together.  Bublé made the announcement on Sunday while hosting the Juno Awards in Vancouver.  Bublé, 42, told the audience during his opening monologue at the Canadian music awards: “five years ago, when I hosted the first time in Regina, you brought me luck and I was pregnant ― I mean, my wife was ― I mean, we were pregnant with our first child.” The pair has two sons, Elias, 2, and Noah, 4, who was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016. Chicago Fire actress DuShon Monique Brown, who played a secretary in the NBC show “Chicago Fire,”  has died at the age of 49. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed Brown’s Friday death at Franciscan St. James Health Olympia Fields, however the cause was not disclosed.  Brown was a veteran of Chicago theater. She worked as a crisis counselor at a Chicago high school and led its drama program before winning the role of Connie on “Chicago Fire”. Celine Dion Cancels Las Vegas Concerts To Undergo Surgery

Superstar Celine Dion has canceled a stretch of concerts in Las Vegas as she undergoes surgery for an ear condition. Dion, who turns 50 later this month, said she has been suffering from Patulous Eustachian tube, when a middle opening in the ear is abnormally open, affecting hearing. Disney Theme Parks Reveal New Marvel Superhero Attractions

On Tuesday, Disney announced that Marvel superhero-themed lands will be coming to Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disney in 2020. The lands are being developed in partnership with Marvel Studios and Marvel Themed Entertainment. At Disney California Adventure, the new Marvel land will open in 2020 surrounding the Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT, attractionwhich opened in 2017 to replace the Hollywood Tower of Terror attraction. Disney describes the land as “a completely immersive Super Hero universe.” At Disneyland Paris, a Marvel-themed area will be added to Walt Disney Studios Park and will include an attraction where riders will team up with Iron Man and the Avengers. Fifth Harmony Announce Hiatus to Pursue Solo Careers

Fifth Harmony announced on Monday, March 19 that they would be going on an indefinite hiatus in order to pursue solo endeavors. The surprising announcement came from group members Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui. The group was formed during second season of The X Factor in 2012, after judge Simon Cowell suggested they work together (fifth member Camila Cabello left the group in December 2016). “After six years going hard, non stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”  5H continued on as a foursome following Cabello’s exit, however each band member started recently venturing into solo projects. Claire Foy Was Paid Less Than Co-Star Matt Smith For Netflix’s “The Crown'”

Executive producers of the Netflix series “The Crown” confirmed that series star Claire Foy was paid less than co-star Matt Smith. Reports had surfaced that Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth II, earned less than Smith, who portrays Prince Philip.  Producers said the inequity was influenced by Smith’s experience as an actor. The 35-year-old star joined The Crown after starring as the 11th Doctor in three seasons of the BBC series Doctor Who.  However they did promise that “going forward, no one gets paid more than the Queen,” according to executive producer Suzanne Mackie. It was first reported by Variety that Foy made $40,000 per episode. The 33-year-old actress played Queen Elizabeth in the first two seasons, but will be replaced by Olivia Colman in Season 3 as the show’s timeline progresses. There is still quite a wait before the “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World are set to debut, but fans are getting a sneak peak via the official video released by Disney Parks. The attractions at both parks are expected to open sometime in 2019.  As seen in the video, a large portion of the attraction’s exterior structures have been created. Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm has opened up incredible opportunities, like Galaxy’s Edge and the upcoming immersive hotel. Actress Heather Locklear Facing Four Counts Of Battery And Banned From Owning Firearms

Heather Locklear has been charged with several counts of battery against first responders who answered a domestic violence call at her Southern California home. The 56-year-old actress was charged with four misdemeanor counts of battery on an officer or emergency personnel, and one misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing an officer. According to the charges, Locklear kicked, pushed and shouted at deputies who were answering a report that she had been violent with her boyfriend Feb. 26. No domestic violence charges have been filed. Locklear’s representatives did not immediately reply to requests for comment. ABC’s revival of “American Idol” was the top show on Sunday night, according to Nielsen overnight data. “American Idol” drew a 2.3 rating in adults 18-49 ad 10.3 million viewers.  However compared to the final Fox season premiere of “American Idol” in 2016, which drew a 3.0 rating and 10.96 million viewers, the ABC premiere was down approximately 23% from the last Fox season. Nun Battling Katy Perry Over Convent Sale Dies In Court

A nun involved in a legal battle over Katy Perry’s bid to buy a Los Angeles convent collapsed and died during a Friday court appearance. Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, of the Sisters of the Most Holy And Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was 89. Holzman was among the nuns fighting for the ability to sell their former hilltop convent in Los Feliz to local businesswoman Dana Hollister, in direct opposition to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ wish to sell the property to superstar Katy Perry. Hollister had plans to turn the convent into a hotel, while Perry reportedly wanted to live there. A judge sided with the archdiocese and Perry, and invalidated the sale to Hollister, back in 2016. In November of last year, a jury found that Hollister had intentionally interfered with the sale to Perry and a judge ordered her to pay millions to the archdiocese and the singer. Just hours before she died, Holzman gave an interview with Sister Rita Callanan, appealing to the Vatican to give them control over their convent. ‘Black Panther’ Reaches $1 Billion Globally

Disney’s Black Panther has passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The studio said Saturday, March 10 that the milestone is based on Disney’s estimate of ticket sales. The announcement comes on the 26th day of release for the blockbuster. The movie is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. Two of fictional Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital’s longest-serving doctors are leaving the hit ABC show “Grey’s Anatomy.”  Stars Jessica Capshaw, who plays Dr. Arizona Robbins, and Sarah Drew, known as Dr. April Kepner, are leaving the medical drama in a major casting shake-up. Reports are that producers made the decision despite the fact that ABC hasn’t renewed the show yet for a fifteenth season. The TV show Suits is expanding, as the spin-off starring Gina Torres has received a series pickup at USA Network. The currently untitled series, which will be introduced in Suits‘ season 7 finale, will follow lawyer Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she “adjusts to the dirty world of Chicago politics,” according to the press release announcing the news. “It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on Suits for six years. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s dog Puddy has died. Teigen revealed the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Wednesday, March 7, sharing multiple photos of herself with her pup. “Today our baby, Puddy, has gone on to the pup heavens. John and I got Puddy in our first year of dating” she revealed. “10 years ago, on May 30th, I found the dog that would be there for us through every up, down, new house, new city, new tour, new travel. He welcomed new pups and loved on new babies and new bellies.
