Actress Sandra Bullock has made a $100,000 donation to The Humane Society of Ventura County, which is helping the animals affected by the wildfires in Southern California. The organization wrote on Facebook: “Our efforts for rescuing and caring for evacuated animals from the Hill and Woolsey fires had caught her attention and her team reached out to the shelter to show their supporT. Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other nonprofit organizations both during this incident and in the past. Stan Lee, a legend who created many of the popular Marvel characters, has died at age 95. Lee died early Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was born Stanley Martin Lieber on Dec. 28, 1922, in New York City. Lee got a job at Timely Comics as an assistant at age 17, and was with the company for near six decades before Timely Comics became Atlas Comics and then Marvel Comics. Lee created or co-created Black Panther, Spider-Man, X-Men, The Mighty Thor, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, Ant-Man and other characters. “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch” earned $66 million for Universal Pictures to top the weekend North American box office, according to studio estimates Sunday. Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley and her husband, former Fox News correspondent Adam Housley, searched for information about their niece, Alaina Housley, after a mass shooting took place in Southern California on Wednesday night. Yesterday the couple announced through their representative that they learned she was among the victims. In a joint statement on Thursday, they said: “Our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.” Alaina Housley, an 18-year-old Pepperdine freshman, was at Thousand Oaks’ Borderline Bar & Grill when a gunman opened fire in the early hours Thursday morning. Tracking on her iPhone and Apple Watch put her location on the dance floor as of Thursday morning while Adam Housley searched the hospital and crime scene for his niece. The gunman, who killed 12 people including the responding sheriff’s sergeant, also died in the incident, apparently taking his own life. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are heading to court over thecustody of their children. According to court documents, the trial is set to begin on December 4. Jolie and Pitt separated in September 2016 after two years of marriage, and filed for divorce shortly after. The former-couple have six children together, ranging from ages 10 to 17. People magazine has named Idris Elba as 2018’s Sexiest Man Alive. The British actor, who has starred in movies such as “The Wire” and “Luther,” was surprised after being crowned this year’s winner, according to the magazine. More than three months after she was hospitalized due to an apparent drug overdose, singer Demi Lovato is reportedly out of rehab and was spotted out to dinner in Los Angeles over the weekend. Lovato was seen dining with designer Henri Alexander Levy on Saturday night, and she also was recently been seen by fans at a Beverly Hills spa and at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights. In photos posted by TMZ, Lovato is seen smiling at Levy and holding his hand across the table at the popular celebrity eatery Matsuhisa. Lovato’s stay in rehab had been expected to extend for several months, according to sources. Back in July, Lovato was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home in July after a near-fatal overdose. Julianne Hough of Dancing With the Stars fame has been cast as Jolene, the infamous man-stealer from Parton’s song of the same name, in the new anthology show from Netflix, called Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings. The eight-part anthology show is set to adapt the stories and inspirations behind Parton’s most iconic hits. According to press releases, Jolene is described as “a flirtatious free-spirit with aspirations of escaping her small hometown of Coventry, GA to follow her dreams of becoming a successful singer-songwriter.” Parton will play Babe, a “sparkly force of nature” who runs the local honky-tonk bar where Jolene works as a waitress and acts as a mother-figure. The next chapter of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” will star Naomi Watts. The pilot for the network’s prequel has cast Watts to star in the project, from creators Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin. According to HBO, Watts will play “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret in the drama pilot.” The pilot (and hopefully potential series) will be set thousands of years before the events seen in the current series, and chronicle the world’s “descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour,” according to a description of the show. Goldman will also serve as showrunner on the series. HBO ordered the pilot for the prequel back in June. Filmmaker Tyler Perry says he’s retiring the character of Madea, the grandmother he first featured on screen in “I Can Do Bad All By Myself back in 1999,” and has since appeared in 10 installments, along with numerous stage shows and TV appearances. Perry says he also plans to stage a farewell tour in 2019, along with the character’s final film, “Tyler Perry’s a Madea Family Funeral.” Perry said that the film was shot more than two years ago, but Perry wanted to delay the release in light of the two Madea Halloween films he made from 2016 and 2017, respectively. A Wrinkle in Time and 13th director Ava DuVernay is partnering with Netflix for a feature-length documentary on the late musical icon Prince. The documentary will chronicle Prince’s entire life and career. DuVernay tweeted about the project, saying “Prince was a genius, a joy, and a jolt to the senses. He was like no other. He shattered preconceived notions, smashed boundaries, and shared his heart through his music. The only way I know how to make this film is with love and great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful.” DuVernay has been working on the project for several months and she has the full cooperation of Prince’s estate. Michael Bublé appeared with “Late Late Show” host James Corden for a worthwhile cause.  Bublé’s appearance on “Carpool Karaoke” was part of the “Stand Up To Cancer” telethon that aired in the United Kingdom on Friday. Bublé opened up to Corden about his son’s cancer battle, and the mood turned somber after when speaking about Bublé’s now 5-year-old son Noah, who was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016 at the age of three. According to multiple reports, Megyn Kelly Today will been canceled and Kelly herself let go from NBC. After Kelly was widely criticized on Tuesday after she defending using blackface in Halloween costumes on her show, she made a tearful on-air apology on Wednesday. However a source with knowledge of the situation at NBC says it looks very likely the show will not be continuing, though an official decision has not been made. Kelly’s future at NBC is still up in the air. Kelly announced she was leaving Fox News for NBC last January, singing a multi-million, 3-year deal with the network that included her hosting her own daytime news program, anchoring a Sunday evening news show and taking part in special political programming and other breaking news coverage. NBC News host Megyn Kelly delivered her first on-air apology Wednesday, admitting she was wrong for her comments which defended the use of blackface during Halloween. During a round table segment on her show “Megyn Kelly TODAY” on Tuesday, Kelly ignited controversy after she asked panelists “what is racist” about white people wearing blackface as part of their Halloween costume. Backlash was swift on social media, which overwhelmingly deemed her comments inappropriate and offensive. In her show’s opening on Wednesday, Kelly said:  “I want to begin with two words: ‘I’m sorry. I defended the idea [of blackface] saying as long as it was ‘respectful’ and part of a Halloween costume it seemed ok. Ryan Murphy revealed on Instagram that his son, Ford Murphy, has been battling cancer for the past two years. Today, Murphy said, his son is “thriving.” Murphy shared the post to commemorate the anniversary of Ford’s diagnosis. Ford, who is now four, was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma when he was two years old. Along with a photo of Ford riding a pony, Murphy wrote: “Two years ago, this sweet little innocent boy with a deep belly laugh and an obsession with Monster Trucks was diagnosed with neuroblastoma…an often fatal pediatric cancer.” In honor of his son, Murphy added that he and his family, including husband David Miller, would be donating $10 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Just days after cancelling Iron Fist, Netflix has also cancelled Luke Cage, cutting the Marvel universe in half. Marvel and Netflix announced, “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. In an Instagram post, actress Selma Blair announced that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Blair revealed she was diagnosed in August, and is facing the effects of the disease everyday. Blair, 46, said she’s had symptoms for years, and thanked her producers at her new Netflix show for being understanding. She said she hopes “to give some hope to others. And even to myself,” and encourage people to ask for help when they need it. Blair posted on her Instagram, “I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.” Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that occurs when there’s a breakdown in communication between the brain and other parts of the body. Schumer, who appeared in a Bud Light Super Bowl ad two years ago, also called on white NFL players to kneel during the national anthem in support. The official trailer for Narcos: Mexico was just released by Netfilx, and the new season is setting a different tone from the first three seasons of the drug cartel drama. “Orange Is the New Black” will be ending after it’s upcoming seventh season on Netflix. The cast of the series broke the news in a video post on Wednesday. The critically-acclaimed show initially followed the inmates of Litchfield Minimum Security Prison, with season six seeing many of the main cast move to the Maximum Security facility often mentioned in the series. ABC’s The Conners didn’t come close to the blockbuster premiere rating of its predecessor, the reboot of Roseanne, but the new series did have strong numbers that led Tuesday night in the ratings. The debut airing delivered 10.5 million viewers and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. While that is down 55% from the premiere of Roseanne last spring, it managed to edge out NBC’s This Is Us for the night. ABC did not expect Roseanne premiere-level numbers, and it was predicted that audience interest in the spin-off was about half that of viewer interest in Roseanne before its return. Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer who has brought Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to life since Sesame Street’s premiere in 1969, is retiring from the iconic roles after nearly 50 years. Spinney, through a press release from Sesame Workshop, said that even though he is relinquishing these roles to other seasoned performers, he plans on remaining an ambassador for Sesame Workshop into the future. “Big Bird brought me so many places, opened my mind and nurtured my soul,” said Spinney. “And I plan to be an ambassador for Sesame Workshop for many years to come.” Spinney’s work with Jim Henson began after the two met at a puppetry festival in 1962, and Spinney joined the inaugural season of Sesame Street in 1969. Since then, he’s starred in hundreds of episodes of the show, winning the Legacy for Children Award in 2003 and The Christopher’s James Keller Award in 2004. Tara Reid made headlines when it was reported that she was removed from her flight from LAX to New York City this week, coming after reports of a “disagreement with flight attendants.” But now Reid is explaining her side of the story. “They wouldn’t let the dog sit next to me, so I wasn’t going to stay on the plane,” said Reid. “Of course everyone made a big deal about it… I’m kind of used to that in my life. Kanye West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, met with the President of Uganda, Yoweri K Museveni, during their trip to the country in East Africa. Museveni detailed the meeting with the famous couple in a tweet on Monday, revealing that the rapper gifted him white sneakers amid talks of improving tourism. The Amazon series Transparent will end its fifth and final season with a musical episode. Series creator Jill Soloway revealed the news in a New York Times profile, announcing that show will conclude with a two-hour musical installment to be shot later this year and airing next fall. Soloway said, “this idea of music rescuing our family was all there. So we’re like, Let’s just keep blowing on the flame. The Pfeffermans will live on, and that’s what kept us going.” Earlier this year, Transparent made headlines after allegations of inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment were brought against series star Jeffrey Tambor. Tambor was fired from the show in February, almost three months after being accused of sexually harassing Van Barnes, his former assistant,  and Trace Lysette, an actress on the series. On Thursday, a New York judge dismissed part of the criminal sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein after prosecutors said they could not oppose the dismissal in light of information they had learned while investigating the case. According to the associated press, the dismissed charge relates to Weinstein accuser Lucia Evans. Evans previously had told the New Yorker that Weinstein had forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004. Five other charges, involving alleged assaults of two other women, remain. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Weinstein’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said he would seek dismissal of the remaining charges as well.  Following the hearing, the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance made public a letter it had sent to Brafman last month disclosing that an unnamed witness had told them that she had heard an account of the alleged assault from Evans, and it was different from the one Evans originally gave to DA’s office.. ...Read Full Story

On Wednesday, Netflix and Ozark star Jason Bateman announced that the original series has been renewed for a third season. Bateman tweeted, “I’m happy for me, but concerned for Marty – it’s official OZARK 3 is on the way.”  Bateman stars as Marty Byrde, a family man and money launderer for a Mexican drug cartel. The second season of Ozark premiered at the end of August and found the Byrde family, in particlar Wendy (Laura Linney), diving further into the world of crime. Jordana Spiro, Janet McTeer, and Julia Garner also star on the series. Disney actress Dove Cameron will be assuming the role of Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher, in the upcoming Off Broadway production of “Clueless: The Musical.” The musical, based off the 1995 film of the same name, is set for a limited engagement beginning November 20th and running through January 13th. Damon Wayans is set to exit Fox’s television adaptation of Lethal Weapon after production wraps on 13 new episodes for Season 3. Wayans made the announcement Wednesday during an interview, where the actor said his decision to leave the show stemmed from having long work days and wanting to spend more time with his family.  “I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days,” Wayans said. “Like Murtaugh say, ‘Too old for this.'” Wayans said he plans on returning to stand-up comedy in 2019. The movie “Venom” is expected to set an opening weekend record for October with an estimated $80 million from 4,250 theaters. Venom, which stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock (aka the eponymous anti-hero Venom), will beat the last October record-holder, “Gravity,” which debuted in 2013 to $55.7 million. The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has a new job, and will voice the title role in the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series. CBS announced in August that The Big Bang Theory will end with its current 12th season. The actress announced the news about Harley Quinn on Wednesday, October 3, during a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con, where DC Universe also unveiled a teaser for the show. Cuoco told the audience, “I’ve always loved animation. I did it years ago, and I haven’t been in the animation world in a while. [Harley] is so edgy. A musical depicting the life and career of the legendary Tina Turner will be opening on Broadway this fall. The show made its debut in London’s West End, and now will be coming to Broadway in the fall of 2019.
