‘Murphy Brown’ Returning To TV With Candice Bergen To Reprise Lead Role

CBS announced on January 24 that Murphy Brown, the sitcom that ran from 1988 to 1998, will return to the network with new episodes. Candice Bergen, who starred as television journalist Murphy Brown, will reprise her role to lead the revival. CBS has ordered 13 episodes of the series, set to debut in the 2018-2019 season. Original creator Diane English, who left the original show after season 4, will also return as writer/executive producer.  Murphy Brown received 62 Emmy nominations and won 18 , five that went to Bergen for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy.  In 1996, she withdrew from the Emmys race, declining further nominations for that role to make room for other actresses.. ...Read Full Story

Joel Taylor Of Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” Dead At Age 38

Joel Taylor, who starred on Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers, has died at the age of 38. Taylor’s death was confirmed by a number of friends on social media Tuesday. The cause of death has not been disclosed, but TMZ is reporting that there is speculation that Taylor may have died from a suspected overdose on a cruise ship.  Taylor joined Storm Chasers, a documentary reality series about researchers who follow storms in Tornado Alley, in 2008. Elton John Announces He Plans To Retire From Touring After Upcoming 300-Date Tour

Elton John announced during a special live-streamed event Wednesday that he will be retiring from touring, following an upcoming 300-date farewell tour.  “I’m not going to be touring and traveling the world. My priorities have changed. I have young children,” the music icon said to moderator Anderson Cooper onstage during the event, which included John playing songs such as “Tiny Dancer” and “I’m Still Standing.”  The singer also confirmed that he will still be making music following the tour and that he is healthy after being forced to cancel a series of shows in April due to contracting a rare infection in South America.  The 70-year-old said he will kick off his final world tour in September. . ...Read Full Story

Neil Diamond Diagnosed With Parkinson’s Disease, Retires From Touring

Neil Diamond has decided to retire from touring after learning that he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from concert touring. I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years,” Diamond, 76, said in a statement on Monday, January 22. “My sincerest apologies to everyone who purchased tickets and were planning to come to the upcoming shows.” Diamond did, however, say he plans to still work in some capacity.  “I plan to remain active in writing, recording and other projects for a long time to come,” he continued in his statement. Academy Awards 2018 Nominations Announced

The 2018 Academy Award nominations were announced this morning and The Shape of Water leads the pack with 13 nods. Guillermo del Toro’s horror/fantasy/romance received the most nominations, including nods for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original screenplay. Dunkirk followed with eight nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a favorite before the nominations, received seven nominations, but was shut out of the Best Director category. Oscar Winner Mo’Nique Is Calling For A Netflix Boycott After Discovering Pay Disparity

Actress and comedian Mo’Nique called out Netflix for an offer that was considerably less than her male and white comedian colleagues. The Academy Award-winning actress took to Instagram with a video saying, ” I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias. I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special. However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle $20 million.” Shortly after, actress and fellow comedian Wanda Sykes tweeted at Mo’Nique saying, “Thank you for speaking out, [Netflix] offered me less than half of your $500k. Tracee Ellis Ross took to Twitter on January 20 to address speculation that she demanded a higher salary to continue starring on Black-ish. “There has been a lot of conversation and speculation the last few days regarding my Black-ish salary. Mila Kunis Named Harvard’s Hasty Pudding’s 2018 Woman Of The Year

Golden Globe-winning actress Mila Kunis will be the Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2018 Woman of the Year. Kunis is widely known for her roles in films like “Black Swan,” for which she received nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice awards. The actress is also known for her roles in award-winning TV shows “That ’70s Show” and “Family Guy.” The Hasty Pudding will honor Kunis on Jan. 25 with a parade she will lead through the streets of Cambridge. Dylan Farrow Details Woody Allen Sexual Assault Claim In First TV Interview

In her first televised interview, the adopted daughter of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow described in graphic detail how Allen allegedly sexually assaulted her. Speaking with CBS This Morning‘s Gayle King, Dylan Farrow also responded to claims that she was “brainwashed and coached” by her mother and began crying as she watched Allen deny the sexual assault claims in a 1992 interview with 60 Minutes.  Allen suggested at the time that Farrow told her story because she was coached by her mother, who months earlier had discovered that Allen had been having an affair with her adopted daughter Soon-yi Previn.  Allen was never charged with a crime and the New York state child welfare investigators and a report by the Yale New Haven hospital found that the abuse didn’t happen. But the Connecticut state prosecutor on the case questioned the Yale report’s credibility, saying there was probable cause to charge Allen but that Farrow was too fragile to face a celebrity trial.. ...Read Full Story

Kristen Wiig To Lead New Reese Witherspoon Comedy Series For Apple

Reese Witherspoon has another series headed to Apple, and it will star Kristen Wiig as its lead.  Witherspoon’s project is Apple’s first half-hour scripted comedy. Inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld’s upcoming short story collection “You Think It, I’ll Say It,” the show has received a 10-episode order by the tech company. The untitled show marks Wiig’s first regular TV series role since she exited “Saturday Night Live” in 2012. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will executive produce for Hello Sunshine, with Wiig also receiving an EP credits on the series. Almost six years after she was booted from NBC’s “Today” show, journalist Ann Curry is speaking out about Matt Lauer’s sexual assault allegations. Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova’s have finally revealed photos of their newborn twins. Iglesias posted the first photo of one of their twins on Instagram Tuesday. In the picture, Iglesias is snuggled up to the baby with “My Sunshine” as the caption on the photo.  In a separate post, Kournikova shared a photo of one of the babies, with the same caption. Back in December, the famously private couple secretly welcomed twins, Nicholas and Lucy,  in Miami. They hadn’t previously announced they were expecting.  Iglesias and Kournikova have been together since 2001 after meeting on the set of his “Escape” music video. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are the parents to a newborn baby daughter, who was born via a surrogate. Director James Cameron Responds To Eliza Dushku’s Molestation Allegations On The “True Lies” Movie Set By Stunt Coordinator

James Cameron supported actress Eliza Dushku after she accused stunt coordinator Joel Kramer of molesting her when she was 12 years old on the set of the 1994 movie “True Lies.” Cameron said he was unaware of the alleged assault at the time. “Directors are historically pretty oblivious to the inter-personal things that are happening on the set, because they’re focused on what they’re doing creatively, but had I known about (it) there would have been no mercy,” he said at a Television Critics Association panel Saturday. Michelle Williams Applauds Mark Wahlberg’s Time’s Up Donation In Her Name

It was revealed this weekend that Mark Wahlberg will be donating the $1.5 million he received for All The Money In The World reshoots to Time’s Up, the legal fund for sexual abuse and harassment victims. This comes following a report that Wahlberg’s costar Michelle Williams received merely $1000 per day for the reshoots. Michael Douglas Preemptively Denies Sexual Misconduct Allegation

In a new interview, Michael Douglas is denying what he says is an upcoming claim of sexual harassment against him. Mark Wahlberg Reportedly Paid “1,500 Times More” Than Michelle Williams For “All the Money In The World” Reshoot

Mark Wahlberg reportedly nabbed more than 1,500 times Michelle Williams’ pay for reshooting scenes in “All the Money in the World,” a new report claims. Sources say that Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million for the reshoot, while Williams was paid per diem that totaled less than $1,000.  After sexual misconduct allegations against Kevin Spacey emerged, director Ridley Scott dropped the actor and reshot his scenes over Thanksgiving week with Christopher Plummer in the role. Williams and Wahlberg worked through the week, but sources were told that Wahlberg’s team negotiated for the actor to take home $1.5 million for the reshoot. James Franco Speaks Out And Denies Sexual Misconduct Claims

James Franco has addressed the sexual misconduct allegations made against him. The actor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where Colbert asked Franco about allegations that were made by several women on Twitter after the Golden Globes awards ceremony, including Ally Sheedy, who accused him of misconduct in tweets that have since been deleted. Franco denied the claims being made against him and says they’re not accurate; however Colbert pressed him and asked if there is perhaps another arena, besides social media, for these claims to be addressed. Justin Timberlake Announces ‘Man of the Woods’ Tour

Justin Timberlake has announced a new 27-date North American tour in support of his upcoming fifth studio album, Man of the Woods.  The tour begins March 13 in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre before wrapping up May 30 in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn. David Letterman Announces Barack Obama As First Guest On New Netflix Show

David Letterman released the trailer for his new show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman,” on Netflix. Letterman also announced the lineup of guests for his six-episode, hour-long talk show series. Letterman’s first guest will be former President Barack Obama. The appearance will mark Obama’s first talk show appearance since leaving the White House. Cate Blanchett Named Cannes Film Festival Jury President

Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett has been named the President of the Jury for the 71st Annual Cannes Film Festival. The “Carol” and “Thor: Ragnarok” star will be the first female jury president since Jane Campion served in 2014. Other women to take on the role this century include Oscar nominee Isabelle Huppert and Liv Ullmann.
