Man Arrested After Home Invasion, Kidnapping

A Battle Creek man is locked up in the Van Buren County Jail after an alleged home invasion in Paw Paw early Sunday morning. Michigan State Police tell us the 22-year-old suspect forced his way into the home and took a woman hostage. He then took her against her will to a home in Calhoun County, where he was arrested by troopers around 1 a.m. today. He will be charged with felony counts of first degree home invasion and unlawful imprisonment. Probe Ongoing Of Shots Fired Near BH Football Game In Wyoming

Very little remains known about shots being fired after the Benton Harbor – Wyoming Godwin Heights football game in suburban Grand Rapids Friday night. City of Wyoming officials tell WSJM News that there were several shots that were fired near the football field, but no one was able to give authorities any information on what happened. The shots could clearly be heard during an interview with Benton Harbor coach Elliott Uzelac by a WOOD-TV reporter. Grand Rapids TV stations report there was no evidence of the gunshots at the scene, and city officials tell us no injuries have been reported. Arnold Palmer Dies At 87

Golf icon Arnold Palmer has died at the age of 87. Palmer won seven majors during his career and became one of the most famous golfers and athletes in history during his career. He played a round at Harbor Shores in 2010 to commemorate the opening of the Jack Nicklaus course, joined by Nicklaus, Johnny Miller and Tom Watson on August 10 of that year. Bicyclist Hit By Car In Cass County

A 55-year-old Niles man is recovering at Lakeland Hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, and says it happened around 1 p.m. Saturday near Ironwood Road and Winkler Drive. A car driven by a 27-year-old from Niles hit Michael Flanigan. Authorities have not indicated if any tickets have been issued, but will say Flanigan was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Scam Investigated In Hartford

Van Buren County residents are being cautioned about a scam that a Hartford resident fell victim to about a week ago. The sheriff’s department says a gold, tan or bronze-colored Chevrolet pickup pulled into a driveway, and four people got out.
