Benton Harbor School Board President Resigns

There is a vacancy on the Benton Harbor school board. President Sharon James this week resigned on Monday via email after not having attended any meetings since mid-June. During her last meeting, James stormed out and created confusion over whether or not she had just stepped down. It’s now official, and the school board needs to appoint her replacement by November 10. WSJM News has reached out to the Benton Harbor Area Schools for comment on James’ resignation. She stopped attending school board meetings after her brother, Rodger Tripplett, was taken off the job as Benton Harbor High School principal and put on paid administrative leave over the summer.. ...Read Full Story

Michigan State Graduate Giving $5.3M To Engineering School

(East Lansing, MI – AP) – A graduate of Michigan State University who relied on a scholarship in the 1960s to help complete his college education is giving $5.3 million gift to the school’s College of Engineering. The East Lansing school announced Tuesday that the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, will use cash and estate planning for the gift so endowed scholarships may be offered. Judge Tosses 1st Degree Murder Charge In “Baby Kate” Case

(Ludington, MI – AP) – A judge has acquitted a northern Michigan man of first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of his 4-month-old daughter. Suspect Identified In Benton Harbor Shooting

Police are trying to find a 19-year-old man suspect accused of a shooting in Benton Harbor. A 35-year-old man was shot Monday afternoon near the corner of Pavone and Empire around 4:40. Cops are now trying to find Jarrod Fitzgerald Guidry, Jr. He also goes by Jayrod. Anyone who has information on where he is is being urged to call Benton Harbor Public Safety or Crime Stoppers. St. Joseph Looking To Keep B&B’s Out Of Residential Zones

There will be no moratorium on bed and breakfast establishments in residential zones in St. Joseph.
