Members of Soundgarden respond to lawsuit filed by Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell

The surviving members of Soundgarden have released a statement with regards to the lawsuit that Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, filed last week. The statement from Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd reads: “The buyout offer that was demanded by the Estate has been grossly mischaracterized and we are confident that clarity will come out in court. All offers to buy out our interests have been unsolicited and rejected outright. For more than a year, Soundgarden’s social media accounts have been hijacked; misleading and confusing our fans. Being a band from Washington State since 1984, we are proud of Soundgarden’s musical legacy, work and career. We look forward to completing the final Soundgarden album.”. ...Read Full Story

Foo Fighters earn third No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart with ‘Medicine at Midnight’

On the Billboard 200, Medicine at Midnight starts at number three. Medicine at Midnight is also the number-one vinyl record of the week. Bruce Springsteen arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving in N.J. last fall

Bruce Springsteen was arrested for driving while intoxicated in a New Jersey recreation area last November. The 71-year-old was given three citations during his Nov. 14, 2020, arrest, for suspicion of DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, according to a National Parks Service spokeswoman, adding that Springsteen was “cooperative” during the process. Marilyn Manson issues statement after abuse accusations from Evan Rachel Wood and others

Marilyn Manson issued a statement after accusations of abuse from his former girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood and other women were posted on Instagram. Wood identified the singer, whose given name is Brian Warner, as her alleged abuser when she was 19 and he was 37. Wood and Manson began publicly dating in 2007 and got engaged in 2010 before splitting up in August of that year. System of a Down Announce Livestream Fundraising Event

System of a Down have announced a livestream fundraising event, which will take place on January 30th to benefit wounded soldiers of the Defense Army of Artsakh and Armenia.  
The livestream will also include the premiere of the music video for their recent single “Genocidal Humanoidz,” one of two new System of a Down songs released in November. That track, along with “Protect the Land,” marked the band’s first new music in 15 years; and were recorded and released to raise money for the Armenia Fund, after Armenia and its neighboring state of Artsakh suffered war crimes at the hands of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Within a week, the songs helped raise more than $600,000 for the cause.
The event itself will be free to watch on the band’s YouTube channel, with the opportunity to make donations throughout the stream. It begins at 9:00 am PT / noon ET on January 30th, with the “Genocidal Humanoidz” music video premiering two hours later at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET.

Music producer Phil Spector dies in prison at 81

Phil Spector, who produced artists like the Beatles, George Harrison and the Ramones, died Saturday at age 81. The producer was serving a 19-to-life sentence for the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson. He was convicted in 2009. Spector’s death was confirmed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, who released a statement, saying, “California Health Care Facility inmate Phillip Spector was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital,”  “His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.”. ...Read Full Story
