Jerry Cantrell, the guitarist/vocalist for the rock band Alice in Chains has shared the new solo track, “Setting Sun.” The track is inspired by the DC Entertainment’s new graphic novel DARK NIGHTS: METAL: DELUXE EDITION. Paul Simon Returns To Old Favorites With New Album ‘In the Blue Light’

Paul Simon is remastering some of his classic songs for his new LP titled In the Blue Light.  Simon co-produced this studio project with longtime collaborator Roy Halee. Simon reached back to selected songs from 1973’s There Goes Rhymin’ Simon, 1975’s Still Crazy After All These Years, 1980’s One-Trick Pony, 1983’s Hearts and Bones, 1990’s The Rhythm of the Saints, 2000’s You’re the One and 2011’s So Beautiful or So What. The songs have been redone with new arrangements and guest stars, including Wynton Marsalis and Bill Frisell. Amy Lee Confirms Evanescence Are Planning First Studio Album Since 2011

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee says the band is in the beginning stages of preparation for the follow-up to their third studio album, 2011’s Evanescence. It will be the first record of all-original material from the band in about eight years. The last Evanescence album, 2017’s Synthesis, consisted of only a few new songs and re-workings of some of the band’s greatest hits. Evanescence’s band members — Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Troy McLawhorn and guitarist/background vocalist Jen Majura — are currently on the “Synthesis Live” tour. Twenty One Pilots Announce World Tour, Release Two New Songs

Twenty One Pilots have announced a new world tour in support of their upcoming fifth studio album, Trench, launching in October. Trench is set for release on Oct. 5 and will include the songs “Jumpsuit” and “Nico and the Niners,” which were released on YouTube and music streaming platforms Wednesday. Twenty One Pilots, which consists of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, will embark on the Bandito Tour starting on Oct. 16 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The band will continue to tour in North America until Nov. 21 with a performance at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Supergroup Dream Child Debuts Their Video For “Under The Wire”

Former Dio guitarist Craig Goldy has formed a new supergroup Dream Child, and they have their debut album on the way soon. “Under the Wire,” is their new video from the album Until Death Do We Meet Again. The video is an exclusive premiere of a song that will be included on the LP, which comes out on Sept. 14. Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Re-Enters British Charts Before Trump Visit

Guns N’ Roses’ classic 1987 debut album, Appetite for Destruction, returns to the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart after more than 29 years. The former No. 1 re-enters at No. 10, following its deluxe remastered reissue on June 29.  For tracking and charting purposes, all versions of Appetite for Destruction are combined;  the album was reissued in a variety of formats: the standard 12-track remastered album, a new deluxe edition with 18 bonus tracks, a double vinyl LP set, a 73-track super deluxe set, and a limited edition Locked N’ Loaded box set with four CDs, a blu-ray disc, seven vinyl LPs and seven 7” vinyl singles. Singer Elvis Costello Cancels Tour After Revealing Cancer Surgery

British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello announced he was cancelling the remainder of his European tour after revealing he had undergone surgery for cancer. Costello, 63, said he had been forced to call off the final six dates of his tour which included concerts in Croatia, Austria, Norway and Sweden on medical grounds. Costello said in a statement, “Six weeks ago my specialist called me and said, ‘You should start playing the Lotto’ He had rarely, if ever, seen such a small but very aggressive cancerous malignancy that could be defeated by a single surgery.” His doctor had now advised him to take a break from touring and rest. “The spirit has been more than willing but I have to now accept that it is going to take longer than I would have wished for me to recover my full strength,” Costello said. “Therefore, I must reluctantly cancel all the remaining engagements of this tour.”. ...Read Full Story

Bruce Springsteen Officially Releases Legendary 1978 Roxy Concert

Bruce Springsteen has just released his legendary 1978 performance at the Roxy. The four hour set is newly mixed and remastered, and was officially made available through his ongoing archival live series the day before its 40th anniversary on Saturday, July 7.  Seven songs from the show were previously released on Springsteen’s Live 1975-1985 collection. Highlights include the live debuts of “Point Blank” and “Independence Day” on piano, covers of Buddy Holly’s “Rave On” and Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” and the complete version of “Backstreets” containing the “Sad Eyes” interlude. Rock Band Ratt Part Ways With Drummer Jimmy DeGrasso

Rock veteran Jimmy DeGrasso has confirmed he will not be joining Ratt on tour, and he is no longer part of the heavy rock group. Frontman Stephen Pearcy recently told fans he and fellow original member, bassist Juan Croucier, would be hitting the road this summer with a “new breed” of Ratt, although he didn’t share full details on who would be joining the band onstage. That came after guitarist Warren DeMartini was reportedly dismissed from the group, prompting musician Carlos Cavazo to exit the band too. The revamped Ratt are due to kick off their tour in Kansas on Saturday, July 7. Paul McCartney has announced the first dates of his Freshen Up Tour, which begins with four concerts in Canada this September. Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan has responded to the rape allegations leveled against him earlier this week, where he was accused of raping a woman when she was 17 years old and giving her a sexually transmitted infection. Keenan has denied accusations that he raped the woman in 2000, calling the allegation a “despicable false claim.” “Many thanks to those of you who saw right through this despicable false claim that only does damage to the #MeToo movement,” Keenan wrote on Twitter. “And shame on those of you who perpetuate this destructive clickbait. Guns N’ Roses Release Alternative Piano Version Of “November Rain”

Guns N’ Roses have released an alternative take on their classic track November Rain. The song appeared on their 1991 album Use Your Illusion I, but this previously unreleased piano version was recorded in 1986 during the band’s famous Sound City sessions. Public Memorial Announed For Pantera Drummer Vinnie Paul

“Vinnie Paul: A Public Celebration of Life” will take place Sunday, July 1st at Dallas’ Bomb Factory venue; the day after the late Pantera drummer’s private funeral in his native Texas. Paul’s family and record label said that fans hoping to attend the memorial must receive a wristband to enter the Bomb Factory; the line for wristbands begins at noon outside the venue prior the memorial. The event notes, “There are no advance tickets, lines or lists.”  Paul died at his Las Vegas home June 22nd at the age of 54. Ray Davies Says The Kinks Are Reuniting To Work On New Album

The Kinks frontman Ray Davies said in a new interview that the band is getting back together and is working on a new album. Davies made the comments Monday during an interview, and confirmed that he was meeting up with Kinks drummer Mick Avory to begin working on a new album inspired by the Rolling Stones. Davies said: “we’ve been talking about it because I’ve got all these songs that I wrote, then the band – not broke up, we parted company – and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it.” The Kinks were founded in 1963 by Davies, his brother Dave, Avory and bassist Pete Quaife who died in 2010. The group was known for songs such as “You Really Got Me,” “All Day and All of the Night,” “A Well-Respected Man,” “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola” among others. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 before splitting up that same decade. Underworld and Iggy Pop have announced a new joint EP, titled Teatime Dub Encounters.  The EP will arrive July 27 via Caroline International. Avenged Sevenfold Save An Injured Fan In Crowd At Their Show In Belgium

At the annual Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Dessel, Belgium, the Avenged Sevenfold performance came to a halt when frontman M. Shadows noticed an injured fan in the crowd. Referencing both the crowd and security, he said, “Someone’s very hurt in there. They’re knocked out cold. You gotta get them out of there. Don’t touch their neck, let someone professional do it.” Shadows and the band left the stage and said they would return after the situation was under control. Vinnie Paul, Co-Founder And Drummer For Pantera, Dies At 54

Vinnie Paul, the drummer and a founding member of heavy metal band Pantera, died Friday at age 54. No cause of death was disclosed. “Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away,” the band announced on Facebook. “Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah. No further details are available at this time. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time.”  Paul formed Pantera with his brother, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, in the early 1980s. The band split in 2003, and the brothers joined forces with vocalist Pat Lachman and bassist Bob Zilla as Damageplan and released their debut album, “New Found Power.”  However in 2004, Darrell was fatally shot onstage in Columbus, Ohio, by a deranged fan. Led Zeppelin Plan Remastered ‘Song Remains the Same’ Reissue

Led Zeppelin will mark their 50th anniversary with a remastered reissue of the soundtrack to their concert film, The Song Remains the Same. The reissue will come in a variety of formats with various extras, and will be released on September 7th. Jimmy Page personally supervised the remastering of the album, which contains recordings from a three-night stint the band played at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1973. The performances were featured in the 1976 movie of the same name. Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker is suffering from blood clots in his arms, leading the band to postpone its ongoing Las Vegas residency. The band announced the bad news on Twitter earlier this week, promising fans that they would reschedule the dates and provide refunds for those unable to attend. “Friends, Travis Barker is suffering from blood clots in both arms and unfortunately cannot perform until cleared to do so by his medical team. Paul McCartney Performs New Single “Come Home To You”

Rumors have it that a new Paul McCartney album will be released soon, some saying possibly even as soon as Friday. McCartney debuted a brand new song called “Come Home to You” during his recent surprise show at a small pub in Liverpool. Buzz is growing that McCartney will release a new album “this Friday” (apparently meaning June 15). There has been no official confirmation of this report, however.  Back in January McCartney said in a Q&A on his website that he was “putting the finishing touches” on a new album —  his 17th solo studio LP and his first since 2013’s New. McCartney also just taped an episode of Carpool Karaoke with The Late Late Show host James Corden. Twisted Sister’s Jay Jay French Reveals Prostate Cancer Scare

Twisted Sister’s guitarist Jay Jay French revealed in a new interview that he had been diagnosed prostate cancer; however he believes he has beaten the disease. In an interview, French, 65, said “I’m a prostate cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in March and I had an operation in April, and they tell me I’m cured.”  He also said that because of his family history, he and his doctors have been screening for the disease over the years. “They’ve been watching me for 15 years,” he noted, “because my father died of it … in ’84. And then starting in 2004, they started watching me carefully, and my brother carefully, and we knew this wasn’t a matter of ‘if’; it was a matter of ‘when.’ So when [I was] finally diagnosed … I had to deal with it,” French continued. “[I] had to proactively deal with it. … I went in the hospital and had it removed.” Twisted Sister’s farewell tour concluded in 2016 in Monterrey, Mexico as part of the Corona Northside Rock Park Meeting Fest.. ...Read Full Story
