Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Re-Enters British Charts Before Trump Visit

Thanks to a social media campaign launched in May by a Twitter group calling itself “American Idiot For UK No. 1 When Trump Visits” encouraging Brits to push Green Day’s 2004 hit “American Idiot” to No. 1 on the singles charts, the track is now currently No. 18 on the Official Charts tally, and it also hit No. 1 on Amazon’s best-seller list. The song was originally written about Pres. George W. Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Appetite for Destruction’ Returns To Top 10 On Billboard 200 Chart After Deluxe Reissue

Guns N’ Roses’ classic 1987 debut album, Appetite for Destruction, returns to the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart after more than 29 years. The former No. 1 re-enters at No. 10, following its deluxe remastered reissue on June 29.  For tracking and charting purposes, all versions of Appetite for Destruction are combined;  the album was reissued in a variety of formats: the standard 12-track remastered album, a new deluxe edition with 18 bonus tracks, a double vinyl LP set, a 73-track super deluxe set, and a limited edition Locked N’ Loaded box set with four CDs, a blu-ray disc, seven vinyl LPs and seven 7” vinyl singles. Additionally, one of the set’s new bonus tunes — a previously unreleased version of the track “Shadow of Your Love” — has peaked at No. 5 on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart. Good Charlotte Announce “Generation RX” North American Tour In Support Of New Album

On July 9, Good Charlotte announced that they’ll be kicking off a North American tour this fall in support of their seventh studio album Generation Rx. The tour will start off in Mexico City on Oct. 12 and will finish in Las Vegas, NV on Nov. 24. Singer Elvis Costello Cancels Tour After Revealing Cancer Surgery

British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello announced he was cancelling the remainder of his European tour after revealing he had undergone surgery for cancer. Costello, 63, said he had been forced to call off the final six dates of his tour which included concerts in Croatia, Austria, Norway and Sweden on medical grounds. Costello said in a statement, “Six weeks ago my specialist called me and said, ‘You should start playing the Lotto’ He had rarely, if ever, seen such a small but very aggressive cancerous malignancy that could be defeated by a single surgery.” His doctor had now advised him to take a break from touring and rest. “The spirit has been more than willing but I have to now accept that it is going to take longer than I would have wished for me to recover my full strength,” Costello said. “Therefore, I must reluctantly cancel all the remaining engagements of this tour.”. ...Read Full Story

Bruce Springsteen Officially Releases Legendary 1978 Roxy Concert

Bruce Springsteen has just released his legendary 1978 performance at the Roxy. The four hour set is newly mixed and remastered, and was officially made available through his ongoing archival live series the day before its 40th anniversary on Saturday, July 7.  Seven songs from the show were previously released on Springsteen’s Live 1975-1985 collection. Highlights include the live debuts of “Point Blank” and “Independence Day” on piano, covers of Buddy Holly’s “Rave On” and Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” and the complete version of “Backstreets” containing the “Sad Eyes” interlude. Rock Band Ratt Part Ways With Drummer Jimmy DeGrasso

Rock veteran Jimmy DeGrasso has confirmed he will not be joining Ratt on tour, and he is no longer part of the heavy rock group. Frontman Stephen Pearcy recently told fans he and fellow original member, bassist Juan Croucier, would be hitting the road this summer with a “new breed” of Ratt, although he didn’t share full details on who would be joining the band onstage. That came after guitarist Warren DeMartini was reportedly dismissed from the group, prompting musician Carlos Cavazo to exit the band too. The revamped Ratt are due to kick off their tour in Kansas on Saturday, July 7. Alice Cooper’s ‘Paranormal Evening’ In Paris Concert Set Announced

Alice Cooper has spent the last year promoting his Paranormal album and next month he’ll release a live album, A Paranormal Evening at the Olympia Paris from the tour. Prophets Of Rage Finishing Off Second Album

Paul McCartney has announced the first dates of his Freshen Up Tour, which begins with four concerts in Canada this September. The concert tour will be the first time McCartney will perform tracks from his upcoming new album Egypt Station. The Canadian stops of his tour mark the first time in at least five years that McCartney has played in Canada. In addition to the brief Freshen Up tour, McCartney is also among the headliners at this year’s Austin City Limits Festival in October. Rock band Panic! At The Disco have earned their  second consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart with their critically acclaimed sixth album, Pray For The Wicked. Debuting at No. 1 on iTunes in 22 countries, the album launched with 180,000 equivalent album units earned, 151,000 of which were traditional album sales. Both figures represent the biggest week for an alternative rock album in 2018, according to Billboard. According to Nielsen Music, the album saw the fifth-largest week for a vinyl effort since the company began tracking sales in 1991. During Neil Young’s two-night stand in Chicago over this past weekend, he announced that fans can enjoy a live and free webcast of his sold-out show in Detroit tonight (July 3rd). Tool’s Maynard James Keenan Responds To Rape Allegations Against Him

Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan has responded to the rape allegations leveled against him earlier this week, where he was accused of raping a woman when she was 17 years old and giving her a sexually transmitted infection. Keenan has denied accusations that he raped the woman in 2000, calling the allegation a “despicable false claim.” “Many thanks to those of you who saw right through this despicable false claim that only does damage to the #MeToo movement,” Keenan wrote on Twitter. “And shame on those of you who perpetuate this destructive clickbait. As for my delayed but un-required response, I had my phone off. You should try it.” Maynard was accused of rape by someone posting anonymously on Twitter. Guns N’ Roses Release Alternative Piano Version Of “November Rain”

Guns N’ Roses have released an alternative take on their classic track November Rain. The song appeared on their 1991 album Use Your Illusion I, but this previously unreleased piano version was recorded in 1986 during the band’s famous Sound City sessions. It’ll be included on the Appetite For Destruction deluxe edition, which is set for release today (June 29) in various formats including CD, 2CD deluxe edition, 2LP 180g vinyl, a super deluxe edition CD box set and the Locked N’ Loaded vinyl box set.  November Rain appears on the collection’s fourth disc titled 1986: Sound City Session N’ More. Public Memorial Announed For Pantera Drummer Vinnie Paul

“Vinnie Paul: A Public Celebration of Life” will take place Sunday, July 1st at Dallas’ Bomb Factory venue; the day after the late Pantera drummer’s private funeral in his native Texas. Paul’s family and record label said that fans hoping to attend the memorial must receive a wristband to enter the Bomb Factory; the line for wristbands begins at noon outside the venue prior the memorial. The event notes, “There are no advance tickets, lines or lists.”  Paul died at his Las Vegas home June 22nd at the age of 54. Ray Davies Says The Kinks Are Reuniting To Work On New Album

The Kinks frontman Ray Davies said in a new interview that the band is getting back together and is working on a new album. Davies made the comments Monday during an interview, and confirmed that he was meeting up with Kinks drummer Mick Avory to begin working on a new album inspired by the Rolling Stones. Davies said: “we’ve been talking about it because I’ve got all these songs that I wrote, then the band – not broke up, we parted company – and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it.” The Kinks were founded in 1963 by Davies, his brother Dave, Avory and bassist Pete Quaife who died in 2010. The group was known for songs such as “You Really Got Me,” “All Day and All of the Night,” “A Well-Respected Man,” “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola” among others. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 before splitting up that same decade. Underworld And Iggy Pop Announce Joint EP, Share New Song

Underworld and Iggy Pop have announced a new joint EP, titled Teatime Dub Encounters.  The EP will arrive July 27 via Caroline International. The 4-track release is the “result of a few clandestine hotel room recording sessions,” and was created in the weeks following the release of Iggy’s last album, Post Pop Depression. Underworld’s Rick Smith asked Iggy to collaborate while he was overseeing the soundtrack to last year’s Trainspotting sequel T2 Trainspotting. Avenged Sevenfold Save An Injured Fan In Crowd At Their Show In Belgium

At the annual Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Dessel, Belgium, the Avenged Sevenfold performance came to a halt when frontman M. Shadows noticed an injured fan in the crowd. Referencing both the crowd and security, he said, “Someone’s very hurt in there. They’re knocked out cold. You gotta get them out of there. Don’t touch their neck, let someone professional do it.” Shadows and the band left the stage and said they would return after the situation was under control. Vinnie Paul, Co-Founder And Drummer For Pantera, Dies At 54

Vinnie Paul, the drummer and a founding member of heavy metal band Pantera, died Friday at age 54. No cause of death was disclosed. “Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away,” the band announced on Facebook. “Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah. No further details are available at this time. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time.”  Paul formed Pantera with his brother, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, in the early 1980s. The band split in 2003, and the brothers joined forces with vocalist Pat Lachman and bassist Bob Zilla as Damageplan and released their debut album, “New Found Power.”  However in 2004, Darrell was fatally shot onstage in Columbus, Ohio, by a deranged fan. Led Zeppelin Plan Remastered ‘Song Remains the Same’ Reissue

Led Zeppelin will mark their 50th anniversary with a remastered reissue of the soundtrack to their concert film, The Song Remains the Same. The reissue will come in a variety of formats with various extras, and will be released on September 7th. Jimmy Page personally supervised the remastering of the album, which contains recordings from a three-night stint the band played at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1973. The performances were featured in the 1976 movie of the same name. Page amended the vinyl edition’s track list to include several songs not on the original release.  The album will also be available digitally and as a Blu-ray audio release.  The reissue will be a super-deluxe box set, featuring the album on CD and vinyl, a DVD of the original film with the previously omitted performances, a surround-sound DVD with a photo gallery and a high-def download card.. ...Read Full Story

Florence + the Machine unveiled the video for “Big God” on Thursday.  The video, choreographed by Akram Khan and Florence and directed by Autumn de Wilde, is the third track to be released from Florence + the Machine’s anticipated fourth studio album High As Hope, which will be out on June 29. Pearl Jam To Reschedule Their London Show After Eddie Vedder Loses Voice

Pearl Jam were forced to cancel their second London tour date yesterday after lead singer Eddie Vedder began suffering vocal difficulties. They’re expected to continue the tour later this week, providing that he gets the vocal rest he needs over the next couple of days.  The band was unable to complete the second of two shows at London’s O2 Arena this week after Eddie lost his voice, but they insisted they were ‘working on’ a date to reschedule the concert and now expect it to come in ‘mid-July’; possibly following the completion of their European dates. ‘Singer Eddie Vedder has completely lost his voice’, they wrote in a statement released on the website. ‘He is on vocal rest for the next few days in an effort to heal and perform the remainder of the tour dates.
