Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Members Of The Heartbreakers And More Perform At “Light Up The Blues” Benefit Concert

The 5th Annual “Light Up the Blues” event benefitting Autism Speaks took place on Saturday night at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Steven Stills and his wife Kristen, who have a college-age son with autism. The night featured a number of special collaborations featuring Stills, his longtime musical collaborator Neil Young, members of the late Tom Petty’s backing band The Heartbreakers, Sheryl Crow and more. The event was hosted by Jack Black, and began with Stills being joined by Judy Collins for a cover of the Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle With Care,” followed by guitarist Mike Campbell, keyboardist Benmont Tench and drummer Steve Ferrone, the Heartbreakers members who haven’t played together since Tom Petty’s passing last year joining Stills for a cover of Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”  You can watch more performances in the linked article below.. ...Read Full Story

Judas Priest And Deep Purple Team Up For North American Tour

Judas Priest and Deep Purple will unite for a co-headlining North American tour. The 25-date tour begins August 21st in Cincinnati and winds up on September 30th in Wheatland, California. General public tickets go on sale Friday, April 27th at 10 a.m.  Deep Purple released their 20th studio album, Infinite in 2017. The veteran rockers supported the LP on a world tour that stretched from last May through December.  Judas Priest issued their 18th studio project, Firepower, in March. The record debuted at Number Five on the Billboard 200, marking the group’s highest U.S. chart placement to date in the U.S. The metal icons are currently touring behind the album with guitarist Andy Sneap substituting for longtime member Glenn Tipton, who recently announced his battle with Parkinson’s disease.   Full list of tour dates are listed in the article below.. ...Read Full Story

Lynyrd Skynyrd Announces Their Final Show

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s last concert will be a hometown affair. On April 20, the band revealed they will play one last date to end their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour: a Sept. 2 date at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla., the city where the band was formed. The band broke the news at the stadium where the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars play during the team’s annual State of the Franchise event. Kid Rock and Jason Aldean are slated as the opening acts, and others will be announced at a later date. It will be the first concert at the stadium since 2015. Tickets go on sale on April 30 at 10AM, with certain pre-sales beginning April 24 at 10AM. Marilyn Manson To Join X Japan For Performance At Coachella This Weekend

For the upcoming second weekend of the Coachella Music Festival, X Japan will be making another appearance, and this time Marilyn Manson will be hitting the stage alongside the Japanese metal outfit. “I am happy to join my great friend @yoshikiofficial and XJapan at Coachella on Saturday the 21st for a special performance,” the shock rocker wrote on Instagram.  At the opening weekend of Coachella last week, X Japan made a rare appearance at festival. Their set didn’t disappoint as it featured the holograms of late members Hideto “Hide” Matsumoto and Taiji Sawada and the return of band leader Yoshiki, who underwent surgery last year. Walmart Refuses To Carry Stryper’s New Album, ‘God Damn Evil’

Leading national retail chain Walmart has refused to carry STRYPER’s upcoming 10th studio LP, “God Damn Evil”.  Many other Christian retail chains have also objected to the title of the band’s album, and are declining to carry “God Damn Evil” in their stores as well. Stryper frontman Michael Sweet said in a statement, “We’re disappointed. Stryper has always been about making people think outside the box. Our new album title, ‘God Damn Evil’, is a statement that’s needed in our society. We’ve seen evil rise to new levels and this title is simply a prayer request asking God to damn or condemn all the evil around us.”  When the Christian group announced it was calling its new album “God Damn Evil”, many people within the Christian rock and metal community went up in arms, accusing Stryper of having gone too far. . ...Read Full Story

Joe Perry Reveals That Aerosmith Is Planning 50th Anniversary Tour

According to guitarist Joe Perry, Aerosmith will hit the road to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Perry said that he and his bandmates may play additional one-off shows following their previously confirmed appearance at the New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival on May 5.  Perry also said: “In 2019, we will be closing in on our 50th anniversary, so we are planning some dates and a tour to celebrate that. 2019 “Monsters Of Rock Cruise” Lineup Announced

Organizers have announced the initial details for the 2019 Monsters of Rock Cruise. Entering its ninth year of operation, veteran acts Queensryche, Tesla, Tom Keifer, and Extreme will be headlining the cruise. The five-day, five-night cruise will set sail Feb. 24, heading out to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and the private isle of Labadee before returning to port in Miami on March 1.  Other artists participating in the 2019 Monsters of Rock Cruise include Saxon, Skid Row, UDO, Kix, D*A*D, Danger Danger, Kings X, Pat Travers Band, Nelson, The Quireboys, Pink Cream 69, The Wildhearts, Rose Tattoo, Eclipse, SOTO, Killer Dwarfs, Brighton Rock, Vain, Mike Tramp, John Corabi, Bullet Boys, Black N Blue, Tora Tora, Tuff, Lies, Deceit & Treachery, Jetboy, Michael Grant and the Assassins and Mitch Malloy, with more performances to be announced. Linkin Park, Guns N’ Roses Nominated For 2018 Billboard Music Awards

The nominees for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards have been announced, and the primary rock acts in contention this year are Guns N’ Roses and Linkin Park. Guns N’ Roses have been nominated largely based off their touring, with nods for Top Touring Artist, where they face competition from Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and U2, and Top Rock Tour, where Coldplay and U2 are the competition. Linkin Park has been nominated for Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album for One More Light, and Top Rock Song for “Heavy,” the track they recorded with pop singer Kiiara. In the Top Rock Artist category, they face off against Imagine Dragons, Portugal. The Man, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Twenty One Pilots. Robert Plant, Lenny Kravitz, Sting And Counting Crows On Lineup For Bourbon & Beyond Festival 2018

Organizers of the 2nd Annual Bourbon & Beyond Festival have revealed the first names that will be appearing at this year’s event. The world’s largest celebration on music, food and bourbon will take place at Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 22 and 23. Robert Plant And The Sensational Space Shifters, Lenny Kravitz, Counting Crows, David Byrne, Gov’t Mule, Blackberry Smoke, Don Felder and Sting have all been confirmed.  The festival has been produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, along with culinary curator Edward Lee and bourbon expert Fred Minnick, who will showcase 24 bourbons. Attendees will be able to find vintage bourbons dating as far back as the 1930s.
