The South Haven City Council has honored a longtime staple of morning radio and charity work in the community.

COSY Radio Vice President of Content and morning host Paul Layendecker was presented with the Mayor’s Service Award at Monday night’s city council meeting. Mayor Annie Brown said Paul’s five decades in broadcasting have made a difference in countless ways.

Paul Layendecker has made remarkable contributions to our community through his leadership, visibility, and dedication as a long-time broadcaster and civic volunteer in South Haven,” Brown said.

Brown said Paul has been a champion for initiatives that lift people up, volunteering with We Care Community Resource Center, the Kiwanis, and more.

Paul has used his position to amplify the work of local nonprofits, promote community events, and bring attention to causes that support neighbors in need.”

Layendecker, on hand to receive the award, said he’s been blessed to be able to make a difference with We Care, and he urged everyone to make a donation to the organization.

Layendecker added he’s spent 30 years in South Haven, a community he loves.
