A Van Buren County man is the winner of $300,000 in a Michigan Lottery game.

The Lotto says the man, whose name has not been released, picked up the winning Safe Cracker Cashword ticket at the Broadway Shell station in South Haven and recently stopped at Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.

The winner says he buys a few of those Cashword tickets each week because he thinks they’re fun, and when he saw that he’d won $300,000, he double, triple, and quadruple checked it. He then asked his wife to look it over, and she confirmed what he thought he was seeing.

The happy couple plans to save the winnings.

The Michigan Lottery says players have won more than $31 million playing that instant game, which launched in December of 2024.
