Michigan State Police at the Paw Paw post are warning the public about a fraudulent contractor that has been ripping off homeowners around Southwest Michigan for about the past year.
MSP Lieutenant DuWayne Robinson tells us Blue Frog Restorations may have at one time been a legitimate business based in the Midwest, but lately, individuals claiming to represent them have been approaching the owners of homes damaged in storms and offering to do repairs.
“They’re actually not doing the work that they’re promising to do, but collecting the insurance check from the homeowner, providing that they sign it over to them,” Robinson said. “So we’re just trying to raise awareness that if they have contact with someone representing this company to not go into any agreements with them, do not hand over any insurance checks to them, and, you know, refrain from any further contact.”
Robinson says the Paw Paw post is also looking for anyone who may have had contact with Blue Frog Restorations, or who may have entered into an agreement with them. Troopers are trying to build a case to prosecute the scammers responsible.
Anyone who’s dealt with the fraudulent operation is asked to contact the post. The trooper to call is Detective Sergeant Ben Mahaffie at 269-845-6948.
