The Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce is entering a new partnership with the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, a move that it says will boost business support and drive economic growth in the area.

Under the agreement, the local chamber will keep its identity and leadership while tapping into the Regional Chamber’s resources. The chambers say that includes expanded programming, stronger advocacy, and greater regional visibility for local businesses.

The two groups have worked together before on projects before, like the Buchanan Social District, and developments including The Grant Hotel. Now, they’re formalizing that relationship as Buchanan sees increased investment and redevelopment over the past year and a half.

Buchanan Mayor Mark Weedon says the partnership will strengthen services for businesses and help position the community for long-term growth.

Buchanan Chamber leaders say the move is also about rebuilding trust with the business community, while working more closely with groups like the Downtown Development Authority and Business Boosters.

More details on new programs and events are expected in the coming months.
