Downtown St. Joseph will be bathed in glorious holiday cheer starting next Friday, December 5 when the city holds its annual Light up The Bluff Event.

St. Joe Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us there are one million lights now strung up around the downtown, just waiting to be turned on. Everyone’s invited to come down and watch as the switch is flipped.

“The ceremony itself starts at 6,” Crevier said. “The St. Joseph High School Choir will begin with some Christmas carols, and then that tree lighting is going to be at 6:30, and then they light the whole Lake Bluff Park.”

And Crevier says that will kick off Merry & Bright Weekend downtown with a variety of holiday events. They include the annual Reindog Parade on Saturday.

We always say it’s the cutest day in downtown St. Joe. So on Saturday, December 6, you can join us for the annual Reindog Parade as it returns to downtown St. Joe. We’ve got that kicking off at 3 p.m. We’ve got day of registration if you are interested, or you can, of course, just come and view the parade.”

After the parade, children can share their wish lists with Santa until 7 p.m. And then Crevier says Santa’s House will be open at the corner of State and Pleasant Streets with Santa available for photos every weekend in December until Christmas. The hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 6, Saturdays from noon to 5, and Sundays from 1 to 5.
