Area athletic director named MIAAA Region 5 Athletic Director of the Year

Greg Younger, Athletic Director for Lakeshore Public Schools, has been honored as the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) Region 5 Athletic Director of the Year, recognizing his exceptional leadership, dedication to student-athletes, and service to interscholastic athletics.

Younger has served as Athletic Director at Lakeshore since 2010, overseeing both middle school and high school programs, and previously held the same role at Dowagiac Union Schools from 2004 to 2010. His career emphasizes organization, integrity, and providing opportunities for athletes at all levels of competition.

Before entering athletic administration, Younger gained experience as an assistant football coach and sports information director at Hillsdale College and worked in accounting and human resources in the private sector. A Dowagiac Union High School graduate, he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hillsdale College and remains active in professional organizations, including MIAAA and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).

Throughout his career, the MIAAA notes that Younger has hosted more than 100 Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) tournament games, served on multiple MHSAA committees, and received the MIAAA 20-Year Dedicated Service Award. He has also volunteered extensively in the community, coaching youth softball, serving on church and camp boards, and supporting local school foundations.

The MIAAA announcement notes that Younger’s recognition as Region 5 Athletic Director of the Year highlights a career built on steady leadership, community service, and a commitment to positive experiences for generations of student-athletes.
