The remake of the clown classic has been in the works for a while. But after losing it’s original director, there have been a lot of questions as to whether or not the remake would happen.

Enter Andy Muschietti. Muschietti is best known for directing Mama and has just signed on as the new director for It. According to Collider, the film is still scheduled to be split into 2 separate movies and will begin shooting later this year. Producer Steve Lee recently sat down for an interview and when asked how close to the book this adaptation is, Lee replied;

It is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work… We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it’s gonna be a really fun way of making this movie

The plan is also to make the movie rated R. No word on an exact release date but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
