Cockroach Milk; Superfood Of The Future?

According to an international team of scientists, cockroach ‘milk’ could be the key to feeding our growing population in the future.

Now, cockroaches don’t actually produce milk, but they do pump out a type of ‘milk’ containing protein to feed their babies. That protein is more than four times as nutritious as cow’s milk.

The researchers said it’s like a complete food – the milk has proteins, fats and sugars. Not only is the milk a dense source of calories and nutrients, it’s also time released. As the milk is digested it releases more protein.

Obviously milking a cockroach isn’t a super easy thing to do, so a team of scientists decided to see if they could make the cockroach milk in the lab. Next, researchers are hoping to produce the milk in much larger quantities.
