Construction season in the Kalamazoo area is close to wrapping up for the Michigan Department of Transportation. MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa says crews are putting the finishing touches on projects all along I-94. Some work not yet finished will have to be suspended until next year.

“We’ll get a couple months of paving done, and then we’ll pull up stakes for the winter and come back in the spring and finish it up,” Schirripa said.

Schirripa says workers are finishing up with U.S. 131 through Portage and the I-94 interchange in Galesburg, in Kalamazoo County. They’ll also get an early jump on an I-94 resurfacing project next month, which will link work done last year at Sprinkle Road with work done this year at 40th Street.
