Governor Considering Bill To Lift Switchblade Ban

Governor Rick Snyder is expected to sign a bill lifting Michigan’s ban on switchblades. The plan from state Senator Rick Jones, of Grand Ledge, lifts a law which Jones says is misunderstood. He tells WKZO News the ban can apply to common utility knives.

“This is not the double-edged stiletto like you see in the movies,” Jones said. “This is a one-edged utility knife that’s commonly used by the National Guard and police officers.”

Jones says the prohibition is outdated and was written based on misconceptions. It cleared both chambers with near-unanimous support.
