It was last September when Hurricanes Maria & Irma hit Puerto Rico, devastating the island , knocking out most of the power and causing major damage. A second wave of DTE Energy crews is in Puerto Rico now, working to restore power.

“The community has held parties for our crews, they have cooked them lunch when they’re out in the field,” Berris said. “It’s just amazing to see the reaction of the people of Puerto Rico.”

DTE’s Randi Berris says power has been restored to 85-percent of the island. Some 50 D-T-E linemen and 30 support personnel will be there through the end of the month.
