Almost 90% of drivers are worried about distracted driving. A new survey by AAA finding that it’s the top concern among drivers. That’s even more so than drunk driving and aggressive driving. Susan Hiltz is a spokesperson for AAA Michigan. She spoke with Michigan News Network about the issue.
“The research is out there that really shows you can’t multitask when you’re driving a car,” Hiltz said. “It takes a lot of concentrations. You’ve really got to concentrate on that task at hand, which is driving.”
Hiltz says studies find that when a driver is texting behind the wheel, they are eight times more likely to end up in an accident. AAA suggests putting your phone in the glove box when behind the wheel.
