Two people are in the Berrien County Jail after shots were fired inside the Cosmo Extended Stay motel in Sodus Township just before 6:30 Friday morning. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department tells us officers found shell casings and closed off the second floor during their investigation Friday morning. Lieutenant Steve Campbell says they seized a pair of guns.
“The officers were able to check the rooms and there are no known injuries,” Campbell told WSJM News.
The investigation is ongoing, and Campbell says they haven’t determined what led to the shots being fired. The police report will be sent to the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges. The motel is located just north of I-94 on M-139 at the Scottdale Road exit.
