34 million people in the U.S. are forecast to get at least 3 inches of rain from Hurricane Florence, with more than 5.7 million people probably getting at least a foot of rain. Consumers Energy is on standby to send crews for power outages, according to spokesman Terry DeDoes.

“Most utilities in the southeast at this point are set with the resources that they need now,” said DeDoes. “After they do damage assessment, they’ll let us know if we’re needed.”

Indiana Michigan Power sent some crews prior to the storm hitting.
