What’s Next After Elections

Now that the election is over, what’s next? Oakland University Political Science Professor Dave Dulio told Michigan News Network he wouldn’t be surprised if opponents challenged proposals one and two — gerrymandering and recreational marijuana.

“Similar with Prop 1, the story is not over yet,” Duliko said. “The state government is going to have to go through at least a year-long ruling making process in terms of licensing and dispensaries and so it’s not like by the end of the month you’re going to see marijuana dispensaries popping up on your local corner.”

Dulio says a Democrat taking the governor’s office was to be expected. He says every time a governor has left office since around 1980, Michigan voters chose the candidate of the other party.
