An overnight shooting in Benton Harbor has prompted Benton Harbor Area Schools to close for the day.
In a press release sent to families, BHAS CEO Robert Herrera said that while the victim injured in the shooting was not a student, they were related to one, and that the shooting occurred near one of the schools.
Herrera added that due to their uncertainty of the people involved in the shooting, the decision to close Friday was made for students’ safety.
Herrera’s press release states that BHAS will update families as more details become known.
