Michigan State Police are encouraging everyone to stay safe during this weekend’s heatwave. Lieutenant Ken High out of Paw Paw tells WSJM News you need to take a few simple precautions.

“Stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water, and we would like you to avoid alcoholic and caffeinated drinks because they do cause dehydration,” High said. “If you are out, we’d like you to wear clothing that allows for good air circulation. So not compression-type clothing. And also if you are outside, try to limit that vigorous activity.”

High recommends staying in the air conditioning when possible, and that you limit vigorous activity. To learn more about preparedness and being safe during the extreme heat, go to Michigan.gov/MIReady.
