Consumers Energy announced Thursday it has approved more than 125 rebates for electric vehicle charging stations for drivers across Michigan. That’s less than two months since the energy provider powered up a new effort to help the next generation of vehicles get into gear. Consumers Energy spokesperson Brian Wheeler told us more.

“Electric vehicles are zero-emission, they don’t use fossil fuels, of course, and so they’re very good for the plant, and they’re very good for Michigan and its economy as our automakers move in this direction,” Wheeler said.

Public charging stations in the following counties have received the most rebates so far. They are Kent, Jackson, Calhoun, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Charlevoix, Allegan, and Midland.
