Two teens are in the Berrien County Jail for an armed robbery and a shooting at the scene of the robbery several days later. Police accuse 19-year-old Caleb Alkire of Niles and 18-year-old Brandon Jordan of Edwardsburg of robbing a man of marijuana and cash just before 12:30 pm on December 5 at a home in the 10 block of South 7th Street in Niles, with one of the two firing shots at the victim. No one was hurt, but a bullet went into a neighbor’s house and came just a few feet from hitting someone inside.

Just five days later, police were called back to the same house after it was shot up. Jordan was later arrested at work in Edwardsburg, with a gun in his vehicle matching the shell casings from the robbery, while Alkire was arrested at his apartment in Niles, and his gun also matched what was left behind on 7th Street. The two were arraigned on multiple felony charges last week. Both are charged with armed robbery, home invasion, having a concealed weapon in a car, and felony firearms, while Alkire faces an additional gun charge. Bond has been set for the pair at $20,000.
