A new University of Michigan study finds the number of e-cigarette users who began vaping at age 14 or younger has more than tripled in the last five years.

“We compared rates from 2014 to 2018 and saw there was quite a big increase in the number of kids that started at age 14 or younger,” said University of Michigan researcher Rebecca Evans-Polce.

Researchers believe one reason these kids start vaping early is because they don’t think vaping is as harmful or addictive as smoking cigarettes.
