Congressman Fred Upton is expecting the U.S. Senate to get to work on an economic stimulus package this week. He tells WSJM News it will likely be around $1 trillion to carry the country through the coronavirus. What will be in it?

“Money directly into people’s hands will be a pretty big chunk of the almost $1 trillion that they’re talking about now, $50 billion for the airlines, and as much as $200 billion for the Small Business Administration to give zero-interest loans to businesses that are shut down, whether it be like the restaurants and bars in Michigan or others,” Upton said.

There has been much talk about Washington sending $1,000 checks to all American adults, but Upton says he doesn’t know if that will be the final amount. He also says the April 15 tax deadline will likely be moved back. He expects members of the House to be called back to Washington to vote once the Senate approves something.
