Governor Gretchen Whitmer is hoping the federal government will come through with aid to states facing budget shortfalls because of the COVID-19 crisis. She says we’re looking at a possible $3 billion hole.

“It is my hope that our Congressional delegation and the White House will work to get the states additional support and the flexibility that we need.”

Whitmer says governors of both parties are lobbying Congress to get aid for states so they can avoid some of the most painful possible cuts. Congressman Fred Upton has already called on his colleagues to step up for the states.
