Coming up this week will be Lake Michigan College’s next Civil Discourse Forum.

The events are held by the LMC Honors Program to explore important issues in a constructive way. Next Tuesday’s forum will be focused on jobs, wages, and inflation, and it will seek to take an in-depth look at the considerations for young adults starting careers and looking for jobs, housing, and opportunities in southwest Michigan.

LMC Honors Program Director Amy Scrima says they want to hear from diverse voices about the issues students care about. Each fall, the student body is surveyed to determine what the Civil Discourse Forum will examine.

On hand for Tuesday’s discussion will be state Representative Joey Andrews, Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber President Arthur Havlicek, and LMC economics professor Lisa Augustyniak.

The forum will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fettig Lecture Hall at Lake Michigan College’s Benton Harbor campus.

Past Civil Discourse Forums have focused on gun violence, healthcare, social justice, and student debt.
