Some job candidates are using AI to answer questions during phone or virtual interviews, and the companies are catching on.
More businesses are now asking candidates for jobs to come into the office for an in-person interview. They’ve started noticing that candidates using AI would pause awkwardly after a question was asked. That’s because they were prompting AI to give them an answer.
Paul Flaherty is an employment expert with business consulting firm Robert Half and told us more.
“First impressions matter,” Flaherty said. “So you want to dress for the role, you want to arrive early, you want to make sure your phone is silenced, you maintain good eye contact, you listen actively, you show enthusiasm.”
If you think you can fool companies, a survey from Robert Half finds 82% of hiring managers can tell when a candidate has used AI to create application materials. Flaherty says AI can be a good tool to help build your resume, but make sure you aren’t losing your own voice.
